I’m not often moved emotionally by a location, however the Travellers Rest really hit the spot for me!
It was a long awaited catch up with my partner and we could not have found a better place, the staff are amazing, they genuinely make you feel so welcomed with a fantastic none judgemental attitude, we have found in the past being a male couple, some establishments act awkward or not very welcoming but not here, it was like coming home and being welcomed by family!
The pub/restaurant is absolutely fantastic, could not fault the food, even though we arrived quite late on, they still accommodated us so we could have a good hearty meal!
After our food, we where shown to the room (No3) what a beautiful, clean and comfortable room, I thought that we had been put in a much more expensive room but this is the standard that you can see they clearly strive for.
Being out in the countryside, the hotel was amazingly quiet with just the occasional traffic noise, this did not bother us at all, we sleep with the window open so could not moan in the slightest, they have secondary glazing so I am confident that you would not hear the traffic noise!
Breakfast was just superb, a great selection of cereals and drinks to get you started, the menu selection is also very good with plenty to choose from, we both had the full English breakfast, this set us both up for the day and a 6 hour walk!
I would 110% come back here, especially knowing that they are dog friendly in certain rooms.
If you do choose to stay here, I must suggest that you go outside when it’s dark and the bar has closed, the darkness and silence is almost spiritual, a genuinely perfect location!
I hope to see the staff at The Traveller’s Rest very soon!
Kindest Regards

Breakfast was of excellent quality. Maybe suggest having the tea and coffee in the other room maybe to help with the flow of the food queue. Our room was great, cosy, small but had everything we needed and well designed layout with beautiful decor attention to details. The location is exceptional. Food options really good! Smaller portion options (Kids meals) available for those of us who do not eat massive plates - staff very helpful with this. A busy chaotic place, but was never made to feel not welcome, we thoroughly enjoyed the bustling atmosphere and flow of people. The outside area is simply wonderful! Views, atmosphere and extremely welcoming!

Excellent staff who were extremely helpful and friendly.
Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening, which distinguishes them from country or guest houses.
The room was nice and clean. Lovely decor throughout the property with quality fixtures and silverware. Great breakfast. Dinner service was also of a very good standard.
Beautiful location, quiet and peaceful with amazing views. The beer garden is perfect on a sunny day. It was a quiet period so staff were very attentive and were able to accommodate an early dinner booking. The room was small but very comfortable and had a lovely view. Very nice bathroom, great shower and loved the large, lighted mirror.
Breakfast options were good and high quality.
A beautiful location, remote but with easy and direct access to many Lakeland towns, walks and activities. The dinner menu was varied and the produce and cooking of it excellent as was the breakfast provided.
Super clean and comfortable rooms of perfect size for two travellers. Very comfortable beds with lovely linen.
Shower and bathroom were modern and clean. Very strong shower!! Love the walk in.
We had dinner both nights on our stay in the restaurant below and food was exceptional. Delivered fast and fresh with great ingredients. Breakfast was also delicious.
Perfectly situated for local walks within Langdale valley. We explored Slaters Bridge which was a 10 minute walk. And just a 10 minute drive up towards Blea Tarn.
The Inn is in a beautiful area. Ideal for walking and relaxing. The bedroom was very comfortable and the bathroom was spotless and modern with an excellent powerful shower. The food was good and staff friendly.

Beautiful location and very convenient for local walking and within easy reach of other destinations. The Inn itself was excellent in all ways. Rooms had everything needed and were very well presented - excellent shower and very comfortable bed. The included breakfast was super and the evening meals on the menu were of a high standard. Would definitely recommend eating in, unless prepared to drive back out to nearby Ambleside. We had a very relaxing stay and were well looked after even for a one night stay.
This is a beautiful little inn, with friendly staff and delicious food. It’s right in the middle several beautiful hikes and has parking spaces for its guests.
