This is the best accommodation excepting multi starred hotels I have ever experienced. The village of Parracombe is just off the A39 and has hardly changed from before the arrival of the motor car. , This pub, restaurant, hotel is like an oasis after my walk from Woolacombe. The hosts are delightful, bar staff accommodating, restaurant superb and my room very spacious with a very modern en-suite bathroom and everything scrupulously clean. All boxes ticked for me. *****

The Rockford Inn, hotel in Ilfracombe

A secluded 17th-century pub, The Rockford Inn is situated at the bottom of a wooded gorge within the heart of Exmoor National Park overlooking the East Lyn River.

The Rockford Inn is a lovely cosy old pub with very comfortable rooms and it was so relaxing waking up to the sound of the river. We ate breakfast and dinner on a two day stay and all meals were excellent - home cooked using locally sourced produce. The location is superb - with walks direct from the pub alongside the river.

We loved the balcony and the views were superb, the weather was unseasonably cool but the evening sun on the balcony made it an idyllic spot to have a pre dinner drink. The fridge in the room was a special treat Breakfast was superb and ordering the evening before was a very good idea

The Guest House was well located, not far from central town and right on the SWCP. The hosts were very welcoming and allowed me to drop off my rucksack earlier than expected. I stayed 2 nights and it was a great base. Not far to town, bus stops and shops. Breakfast was excellent. There were several rooms that guests could use, a lounge, launderette and a bar so made for a comfortable stay.

We have just returned from a Stay at the Devonian and can Highley recommend it . The host’s Piper and Terence have created a guest house that is welcoming, comfortable and furnished in a very memorable way. They have shared their interests in an eclectic mix of items which are displayed around the public rooms, and these create an ambiance which is both comforting and fun. Due to time constraints we were not able to make full use of all the facilities on offer but we will make sure that on our next visit.
