The Cross in is really cozy and homely.it is also located in one of the most intriguing and unique villages in Britain. It also has a fascinating history, having played a part in the story of the infamous coiners gang. Worth googling on. It is also a very short walk to Sylvia Plath's resting place, which is in the shadows of the beautiful ancient church ruins

Roy and Sue are the hosts of the Griffin. They are the reason I gave such a good review. They are welcoming and kind. They went out of their way to make sure we were looked after. The pub had friendly locals that added to our experience. The room was clean and quiet.

Pretty building
Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening – distinguishing them from country or guest houses.
Very cozy place in the heart of Heptonstall. I got the single room, it was beautifully decorated and had everything I needed, including a sweet welcoming tray of goodies.
Jill made sure I was comfortable and was very sweet and friendly. The food at the restaurant is great and has also some vegan options.
The inn is also a pub at night, which brings a very lively atmosphere to the place.
I had a lovely stay.
Great inn in a quaint little market town. Room was clean and roomy with good size bathroom and very good shower. Good dinner available and breakfast was from both hot and cold selections. Right in the middle of town . Good wifi. Staff most friendly and hospitable. Great stay and close to a lot of other little towns. Parking at rear of inn.
A superb location in a quiet ancient town high above Hebdon Bridge. An historic stone built inn with character. Friendly hardworking staff. Very comfortable bed.
Breakfast was excellent, and plenty of it. Location was spot on and free parking. Good old fashion inn with quirky floors. Room was clean and comfortable, staff friendly and helpful.
The effort they made to arrange a wonderful Thai dinner for ten plus dog and baby!
Friendliness of all, including the chef who is a bit of a character.
The staff are very friendly.
I recommend their food. I had a lovely Thai meal. A good selection of beer.
For such an old, historic Inn, my stay was comfortable.

Really lovely historic inn in a great location. The room was very spacious and nicely decorated. Good tea and coffee making facilities with proper ground coffee and cafetiere. The bar was very friendly and had a great atmosphere, with a group of locals having an acoustic guitar session. Nice continental breakfast with a good range of cereals, pastries etc.
