The genuine friendliness of Sue, the land lady, and not forgetting wee doggie Paddy, her adorable dog. Beds super comfy and room/shower immaculate. Let’s not forget the locally sourced food which was all locally sourced. Breakfast was delicious and supper beautifully presented and yummy scrumpy. Absolutely first class all the way

Located in beautiful countryside. Friendly, accommodating staff, excellent food, good value for money.
Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening – distinguishing them from country or guest houses.
Lovely , historic coaching inn, modernised, but still maintaining original features .Very comfortable bed, well appointed . Excellent restaurant and extremely helpful and friendly staff
We liked the garden and the breakfast. There was plenty of choice, although my poached egg was hard and the fruit salad had tinned fruit as well as fresh. It was nice to relax in the garden.
We had a lovely room with views in both directions. It was clean and comfortable. The inn is a handsome building in a terrific spot within Hay. Breakfast was excellent.
Old atmospheric historic inn just over the Welsh border coming from England.
Very good menu. Comfortable room. Good parking. If using an English bus pass on the 38A bus from Hereford, best get off and on and off at Cusop, just outside Hay-on Wye, walking distance to the Black Lion. An English bus pass is not valid in Wales & vice versa
The staff was excellent - from the email when we booked suggesting we book our dinner as well since they usually are fully booked, to the woman who checked us in and got us settled, to the host who took care of us the next day - everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable. The historic inn is beautiful and charming, our room was great, and the food was fabulous!
