I was doing a trail run on the Saturday morning and the Inn was well located for it. The room was comfortable and fresh, clearly having been renovated recently.

We were welcomed very friendly, and although the room wasn't ready yet we could leave the luggage safely behind the reception counter. The area is great, we did not expect to be so close to the mountain hiking area. A nice atmosphere and YHA has a nice dinner and breakfast offer.

I was walking the Coast to Coast walk and decided that I would stay somewhere special on 24 April, which was my 75th birthday. I invited my sister and brother in law and my special walking friend for dinner and the quality and warmth of the Inn on the Lake throughout our stay was truly exceptional and wonderful.

We arrived late and were unsure about whether we'd get a vegetarian dinner - but we did, and it was unexpectedly good, including excellent service. This is a lovely hotel, comfortable, with excellent staff, an outstanding location, and very convenient for anyone who wants to experience a ride on the Ullswater 'steamer'.
