Breakfast was wonderful - perfect poached eggs and a fantastic selection of high quality food. Loved the rhubarb yoghurt and granola as well as the very fresh granary bread.

The best thing was that the staff were so personable and helpful.
Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening – distinguishing them from country or guest houses.
I really like sitting rooms, the dining room and kitchen. The kitchen accessories was amazing: everything you need for making breakfast or dinner for large group also.
Great place if you want to hike and explore things nearby.
Coming back:)
brilliant breakfast with a lot of choice.
very accommodating bar staff when we didn't book for dinner, tho' "Full" they always fitted us in. Food really good.
Bower House Inn was really quaint and lovely and the pub food was wonderful. The menu had the classics as well as more untraditional and vegetarian options, which we really appreciate on a long trip in the Lakes. The staff here were all really lovely as well. We would be happy to stay here again.
The location is amazing and perfect for a base if you are visiting the lakes. The staff were attentive and couldn't do enough for us. We had dinner in the evening, whichvwas delicious and served in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Breakfast was part of the deal and there was plenty of choice. Delicious!!
Dinner and breakfast were excellent. The Bower House has a generations-old dining reputation to keep up (there's a menu on the wall from 1958), but they're doing that just fine. Enjoyed views from the restaurant garden room across Eskdale to Muncaster Fell, and in fine weather eating out in the garden would look like a good plan. Menu choices are good and varied.
Room was across the yard in a comfortable annexe, which means it was quiet even though the bar was busy.
Having stayed many times all over the Lake District this was our first time to Bower House. It was fabulous and we will definitely return. 10 out of 10 and easily our favourite of all the places we have stayed at so far. Beautiful garden. Huge Shower (room 1) in the annexe. Very peaceful location. Gorgeous bar, fantastic menu and delicious both breakfast and dinner. Remote but worth it!
Such a beautiful setting. Peacocks, chickens roaming the gardens, very friendly and welcoming. Grand but not stuffy. Delicious breakfast, Dinner was great too, nothing fancy but cooked to perfection and hearty. Lovely walk behind the hotel in there little woodland area.
Idyllic location with historic and rustic buildings. Pastures with sheep grazing adjoined the accommodation. The on-site, historic pub, where we had a tasty dinner and an equally good breakfast, was charming and comfortable. Adjacent to the pub there was also an extensive outdoor seating area on a large lawn that we and others around us enjoyed, and where we enjoyed drinks from the pub.
it was a wonderful country inn, with rustic features, roaring fires, home cooked food and friendly staff. it was a warm welcome, an accommodating stay and a lovely relaxing vibe
