A good place to stay in Ellesmere. Good old trad pub. Staff were great, food was good, and the room was larger than I expected, and clean and tidy. The small en suite was a bit of a squeeze, but hey, how long do you spend in there? The parking out the back was good too.

Everything was exceptional. Michell and Mark really look after everyone who stays with them. I mentioned that I was vegan - not only did they provide a brilliant vegan breakfast, but I was offered plant based milk in my room (not usually offered by hotels so I usually bring my own), and then upon my return from work, I was greeted by vegan shortbread in my room.
If you are looking for a home away from home when you travel, this is the place for you and I will certainly be staying again.

The Hand is a charming hotel in beautiful surroundings. We loved the pub area. A wood fire was burning and the room was so cozy. The dining room was beautiful too and our dinner was delicious. We walked to the nearby church where there are huge evergreens that have been there for years and are loved and visited by many.

As advertised, a genuine building with character and charm. It makes a great change from a premier inn.
Location right in the city centre but in a quiet courtyard. I was there mid-week so it may be different on the week ends with live music.
I had dinner at the pub twice and both meals ( slow-cooked belly pork and lamb shank ) were really well prepared. The bar had a good selection of beers.
Both the room and the meals were great value for money.

Great location, close to train station and shops 😁 basic accomodation , comfy bed and clean. Cheapest accommodation you pay for what you get. We enjoyed!

Lovely old fashioned inn with very friendly and helpful staff, room comfortable with ensuite shower room. Had our evening meal there, which was exceptionally good. Our breakfast was included and was adequate.
Breakfast and dinner was great! They had good vegetarian options for both and were very happy to modify some dishes to suit my preferences. And you could sit outside!
Breakfast was fantastic, and dinner options were very good. I had the lamb shank, and what a treat that was. So, this is really good pub food, and the ambiance is lovely.
The barn was exceptionally clean and quiet, perfect for a relaxing stay. We particularly enjoyed the board games and hot tub which was ready on our arrival. The barns are well equipped with facilities and very comfortable.
On arrival the internet wasn’t available so therefore we couldn’t watch any of the TVs as they don’t have an aerial which was slightly disappointing but was repaired the following afternoon.
The sun inn is highly recommended, we had a fantastic meal only five minutes drive away and friendly staff.
