The Horseshoe Country Inn, hotel in Egton

Set in Pickering, 11 km from Dalby Forest, The Horseshoe Country Inn offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a bar. This 4-star inn offers free WiFi.

This is a beautiful gastropub with high quality accommodation. We stayed in a room with a small, private garden and it was all very well presented. The staff members were all helpful, professional and happy to have a chat with guests. The food was great and locally-sourced where possible. The Horseshoe is a fantastic base from which to explore this part of Yorkshire.

The Fox & Hounds Inn, hotel in Egton

Surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the North York Moors, this former 16th-century coaching inn is now a high-quality country inn and restaurant, rich in historic charm.

Gorgeous country pub with incredible views from all angles. Warm & welcoming, with friendly & helpful staff. Open fires crackling away on a frosty day is just heavenly, away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. My bed was just so comfy, I wanted to sink into it! The room and bathroom were squeaky clean, and the bits and bobs like teabags were topped up daily with top quality products (love the coffee bags and proper Yorkshire tea!). The steak I had for dinner was just excellent, cooked rare to perfection and my knife just slid through it! The entire property is very clean and you can tell it’s very well looked after. Breakfast staff were very quick and attentive at bringing out a pot of tea while you peruse the breakfast options. I had a Yorkshire brekkie both mornings and delighted in the selection of preserves and butters on each table. There is also a selection of juices, cereals and yoghurts. Toast was brought out first so you can butter up before your brekkie arrives and that was always piping hot! I did leave the grilled tomato but that’s just personal preference (plumed tomatoes all the way!).

Duke Of Wellington Inn, hotel in Egton

The Duke of Wellington is an ivy-clad traditional eighteenth century inn located in Danby, near Whitby. The hotel is an ideal base for exploring the Moors, Whitby and the coast.

Stayed here for a wedding down at Danby Castle. Room was clean and tidy. Minor down side for myself is that the windows appear not to open in the bedroom. Breakfast was decent and service both then and in the bar the previous night was good also.

Lovely country inn. Very quiet surroundings. Never heard the railway, despite being only 100yards from it. Good sized bedroom, a lot of toiletries supplied. Very clean. Our hosts were excellent, couldn’t do enough to make your stay memorable. Food and drink was also excellent.
