The Marquess of Exeter, hotel in Uppingham

Set in Leicestershire countryside, in picturesque Lyddington, The Marquess of Exeter is a historic country inn with a traditional restaurant.

Room 6 was spacious, warm and well equipped. The evening dinner was excellent, asian fusion sort of thing, but not much choice if you wanted other meals. Staff were all helpful and welcoming.

At first glance from the road wasn’t impressed but never judge a book by its cover .the garden at the back was delightful and the hotel lived well up to expectations. Breakfast was good could have been better otherwise it would have been a 10 .dinner was lovely.

The George always surpasses my expectations, from arrival to departure and everything in between. Fantastic well equipped rooms superbly designed and furnished to make your stay super relaxing. The gardens are also superbly designed and thought out to make having our dinner or just a beer ultra pleasurable.

As soon as I walked in, tired from a day on the road, I was greeted, given my key and shown to my room. No sign in, credit cards, car rego details. Just brilliant. Dinner was prepared quickly and was very tasty.

This was ideal for a business trip in the local area. Lovely bar and restaurant. Dinner was excellent. We all enjoyed what we had. The rooms exceeded our expectations and are were extremely good value for money. I would recommend to anyone. The hotel went out of their way to provide a takeaway breakfast for some of our party who had to leave the hotel prior to the commencement of breakfast service, which was greatly appreciated.

Room was lovely and very clean and warm. Food was delicious, excellent dinner and marvellous breakfast, all cooked to order and served at the table with sparkling clean cutlery and white napkins, none of this new 'help yourself' nonsense that so many hotels do now. Definitely somewhere I'll return to.
