Waverley Inn, hotel in Cowes

Featuring free WiFi and a restaurant, Waverley Inn is a Victorian era pub build around 1886 which offers pet-friendly accommodation 10-15 minutes' walk from Newport.

Close to where I needed to be for work so the location was perfect. The room is perfect for a business traveller looking for somewhere reasonably priced and close to Newport. The pub below had folk night that evening which was very entertaining and I had an evening meal there too which was great. I’ll be going back I’m sure.

The Chequers Inn, hotel in Cowes

Situated in Rookley, 8.6 km from Blackgang Chine, The Chequers Inn features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

Beautiful surroundings, amazing food and friendly staff. We stayed with our children, 2yrs and 6yrs, the room had loads of space for playing and they had a blast in the huge bath tub! There is a substantial play park in the garden with horses in the field next door. The breakfast included with the room was amazing, with all local produce, freshly made, and dinner was exceptional

The location is superb overlooking the Solent, it was lovely having breakfast in front of the open patio doors overlooking the water. We have been to Villa Rothsay before for dinner, but not stayed. While the villa is amazing decorated to reflect a bygone era and it's so interesting looking at all the pictures and artefacts, our room was more modern, very comfortable and clean. We'd definitely stay again.

This is a beautifully appointed guest house ,spotlessly clean and with very welcoming and obliging hosts. The breakfast was superb with an excellent variety on offer and expertly cooked and presented. I struggle to find any negatives although the en-suite was a bit tight for room but it was fully fitted and there were luxurious towels and toiletries. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Our room was a good size, nicely decorated and very clean. There was a kettle and tea and coffee provided also bottles of water that were a welcome touch. We enjoyed a lovely dinner one night in the bar and the huge tasty cooked breakfasts and everything was served quickly. Staff were very friendly and efficient.

The location is good - only a 15 minute walk to the town and quay side. All along the esplanade. The staff are excellent - helpful and friendly The food is good - freshly cooked. Breakfast very good. Dinner is fine but lacks refinement. Tables do not have tablecloths (as shown in the hotel photos), but the food is freshly cooked. Parking is on site - tends to fill up by 6pm.

The breakfast! Barbara was very attentive. The first time we met she showed us the room, the breakfast menu options, places to dinner and we had everything we needed for our whole stay. But definitely having a fresh home made breakfast served perfectly on time in the morning brightened our day.
