Lovely little inn in the middle of nowhere. Easy to get to by car (and car only). Very friendly family running the place. Very good food and incredible value for money.

It's a small family run hotel and everyone is very helpful and friendly. Since we never really explored this area before, we asked for interesting things to see and later in the evening the owner supplied us with a list of local highlights. The food was lovely as well, we had dinner here both nights and breakfast set us up for the day.

In general the dinner menu and service was very poor. Even the breakfast, which is now almost universally a buffet, relied on unreliable table service. Against that the general facilities in the room: bed, TV, bathroom, space allowed were excellent

Honestly, what a treat of an inn. The location is breathtaking, really deep in the countryside, and so quiet. While we were having breakfast, some chickens tried to invade via the front door, so we had a good laugh. Really lovely and clean. The breakfast was nice and tasty. The staff were so helpful with a much earlier checkin.

The location for me is excellent for my cycle ride from Edinburgh to Cumbria and vice versa. I love a country inn with rooms - works well for me. Food was very good and just right.

The location is lovely and the peace and quiet most welcome. We loved the view of hills and river from our bedroom window - and the sound of a cuckoo. We enjoyed exploring the beautiful countryside nearby. We enjoyed pub-style dinner and a hearty breakfast and liked putting the world to rights with the proprietor! We appreciated the non-slip surface in the shower and the comfortable bed and always like to see old furniture cared for and put to good use. A nice touch was the wee dram - thank you!
