We really enjoyed our 2 night stay and would have been happy to extend it given the opportunity. The room was clean spacious and comfortable and given that they are built around the courtyard it felt as if we had our own patio outside.
All the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming and the food was well presented and delicious. The location in a peaceful country hamlet between Blandford and Wimbourne was perfect for a relaxing break and very dog friendly. An absolute gem.

Charming, spacious room and slap bang in the middle of the town, which is an unexpected delight. We did not try breakfast at the sister place as we ate in the local cafe in the square. Would definitely stay again.

Twin room as comfortable as ever, with excellent shower and good television. No Saturday night live performances at this time, so evening quieter than past visits. Problems with catering staff meant no evening meal available. Did not book breakfast on site.

This is the most shining example of how outstanding hospitality looks!! The attention to detail in every aspect of our visit was extraordinary ...we could only stay one night but our hosts made us feel like Kings and Queens ...locally sourced dinner and breakfast and a sumptuous bed in a fabulously decorated character pub...bliss.
Food was excellent as we had dinner (fish and chips) The staff were responsive to my issue with the room (see below). The bed was comfortable, plenty of hot water - all good. However...
superb dinner

staff were amazing
Nice, clean size room with comfortable bed. Good choice of cooked breakfasts as well as cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit. We had dinner which was excellent. Very nice outside garden with plenty of parking.
Overall my experience of this hotel was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the Inn was a delightful building. I would recommend it and would stay here again if I was in the area.
Anvil Inn is located at a beautiful spot in the village within short driving distance to the main towns around. Clean and comfortable rooms with rustic appeal. The breakfast was great and the staff are fantastic.
