This hotel was a peaceful retreat. The grounds are beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful. The pool is refreshing. Our room was fabulous!!! It was super quiet at night, very cool and dark—perfect for sleeping. The bed was very comfortable, too! We purchased one dinner and one lunch from the hotel, and the food was delicious!! If we return to this area, I would use this hotel as a start and stop point because of its proximity to the airport and the beautiful grounds.

The property is perfect for a night before a flight out of the San Jose airport. The whole place is comfortable, clean, amazing staff, the restaurant was open late which was so good to hear after driving five hours straight. Our family was so happy to be there and check in easily, quickly, had the best dinner and went straight to our room and went to sleep.

Loved the restaurant, had the patacones with pesto, they were amazing! For dinner I had red wine reduction sauce with chicken and fig, amazing! The room was great, I would have liked a mini fridge, but oh well. There are giant spiders in the trees, which totally freaked me and my daughter out. That was my only complaint, I am aracnaphobic, but I didn't want to let that ruin my time. Saw tucans in the trees at breakfast, really cool!

It's so close to the airport, it's really nice and clean and Patricia is such a sweetheart she accommodated us so well even tho we booked last minute because we needed a place to stay before our flight. Its close to a lot of food places as well so we are able to get dinner, and the area is a good area.

Katty is a wonderful host, we had only booked for one night but our flight the next day wasn't until after midnight, and she told us to make ourselves comfortable in the communal area and stay as long as we wanted. She gave us directions to the mall and also booked us our taxi to the airport. She will also order you dinner from the nearby Chinese or pizza place if you want. There are also beautiful hummingbirds that come and feed at the window, and a great view over the city at sunset! Highly recommend!

Gorgeous garden and exceptional service. Innkeeper Berni will regale you with Costa Rican tales between the superb breakfast and organising trips for you. If you're only in Costa Rica for a brief visit as I was, it is essential you get some help to arrange things such as tours and drivers due to the laid back way the country operates. Pura Vida Hotel is close to the airport and Berni will help you with all the critical taxi details, including getting you to your flight on time despite San Jose traffic. This is a must stay.
