Hotel La Reserve, hotel in Saint-Luc

The family-friendly self check-in Hotel La Reserve is centrally located in St. Niklaus, 10 km from the ski resorts of Zermatt, Saas-Fee and Grächen.

I arrived on a very stormy day during the Haute Route.trek and was able to check in early. Comfortable beds, balcony and a nespresso machine too. About ten minutes walk from the train station. Not much going on in St Niklaus but the bar and restaurant were popular with locals and residents. Decent pizza and salad though service was quite slow!

Hotel Restaurant Flaschen, hotel in Saint-Luc

Hotel-Restaurant Flaschen in Albinen is located at the foot of the Torrent Ski Region just a 5-minute walk from the next gondola.

The place is on the top of the mountains. The view is breathtaking! Trully! The photos aint showing anything here. Go check in google streetview, thats a bit better, but still, you gotta be there to see it. You wake up and this magnificent mountain is right front of you! Its... just... amazing! The road that leads you to the hotel, literally, every time it was pure joy to drive through it. The breakfast is mainly made from local ingredients, it was really special, although not a huge variety. Being the guest of the hotel grants you a discount for the cable car nearby and for the bath down in the valley, but to be honest its still very expensive, so we skiped that instead, there are many cable cars in the region, and some better worth it.

Breakfast was great, the lunch was delicious, but the dinner was out of this world. Eating Raclette (the best ever) and looking down into the valley was truly magical...

It is a unique experience to stay in this place. Be aware that you'll have to walk there! The hotel is very old and in some parts inside this is still obvious, e.g. the toilets (one per floor). Also the rooms are basically left in their original style which gives all the charm. The floors are creaking with every step. You really feel like spending the night in the year 1900. But then the dinner and the breakfast were of the best standards of nowadays, delicious and innovative. Though a bit pricey, I did enjoy my night a lot !

A lovely place in the heart of St-Luc with parking right in front. Great breakfast and the convenience of an in-building traditional restaurant were a plus! Rooms rustically decorated in a very nice style, balcony with great views of the mountains. Staff very helpful but note that not all staff speak English if that is important to you (most do).
