Southern Yurts is owned and managed by partners, Tobin Davenport and Kate Brink. The business-core, including Yurt accommodation and manufacturing, operates from Porcupine Hills Guest Farm - a beautiful guest and olive farm, that also conserves 200 hectares of indigenous Renosterveld, called the Diepklowe Nature Reserve. Over the past seven years we have established three private and memorable glamping sites in the heart of this nature conservancy, as well as two cabins. The Yurts are equipped for self-catering, with private kitchens, bathroom facilities, and wood-fired hot tubs from which to enjoy the location’s exquisite views. Southern Yurts prioritises the balance between product functionality and customer comfort. Great care is taken with each step of the manufacturing and design process to ensure that our Yurts and accommodation are of quality. SOUTHERN YURTS is situated on the beautiful Diepklowe Nature Reserve, just 90 minutes (100km) from Cape Town. Our Yurts and Cabins offer a unique glamping and nature experience that will suit a full range of getaway requirements - whether you’re looking for a quick midweek escape, a secluded space for two, or a full retreat into nature with family and friends. There are three Yurt accommodations that can be booked: Forest View Yurt sleeps two in a secluded destination - you can read more about this site under 'Comfort tent' on this booking platform. The Yurt Camp consists of two visually separated and independent sites, each sleeping 2 - 4 guests: Kestrel and Malachite - these two sites are known as 'Standard Tent' (Kestrel) and 'Family Tent' (Malachite) on this platform. Kestrel is more suited to couple or small families with children, whilst Malachite is suited to friend and family getaways as it is slightly bigger. We also have two Cabins: Botanica Cabin (Luxury Bungalow) and River Cabin (Deluxe Bungalow) - they have wood-fired hot tubs, wood-fired pizza ovens, and are private self-catering accommodations that can accommodate couples, as well as families. Please note that there are no shared facilities at Southern Yurts. Basics supplies such as soaps, dishwashing liquid, firewood, firelighters, salt, pepper, filter coffee, sugar and tea are all provided.

Southern Yurts is located on Porcupine Hills Guest Farm, which is home to both a small olive growing operation and a nature conservancy. Guests staying at Kestrel or Malachite are situated in the conservancy and have full access to the farm during their stay. The farm itself has a range of activities, including marked and mapped hiking trails, trail running, bird watching (bird books and binoculars provided), and a small farm dam with a kayak. Fishing (catch and release) is also available at the farm dam, and fishing rods and gear can be rented by prior arrangement. If you’d like to explore the surrounding area, activities such as wine tasting, zip lining, horse-riding, farmer’s markets, and more, are all within a 30 minute drive. Whilst Southern Yurts accommodation is self-catering, Sundowner, Dinner, Pizza, and Breakfast Baskets (stocked with locally sourced goods!) can be arranged - please contact us for more information on what’s in the basket when you book.
