@ “Hello Sunshine” up-cycling is our motto – Your hosts Rolandie and Marius’s home is a ‘junk-yard” transformed into one-of-a-kind creative pieces. From hand-me-downs to broken or unwanted items found in dumpster-bins, we convert other people’s “junk” into something unique with character and a story. As a self-taught artist and home-maker combined with Marius’s Rubbish-dumpster business and handy skills, the conversion from waste to want with a little creativity, paint, odds and ends can even transform a piece of wood into something useful or beautiful and timeless. We as a team are drawn to the broken, cast out, and overlooked items of the past and pursue to transform other people’s rubbish into something useful, functional and sometimes even beautiful. We recognize beauty in the mundane, bringing new life to forgotten objects, and find the process of salvaging old materials and creating something different to be satisfying and important. “It’s not about what it is, it’s about what it can become” (Dr Suess). 70% of all the furniture @ Hello Sunshine are up-cycled items where a little imagination, a coat of paint or some new hardware were transformed into a new life.

"Hello Sunshine" is in a relaxed quiet suburban area. It is perfect as a base to explore Mpumalanga as a tourist or on a business trip. In South Africa it is advisable to rather make use of a taxi service than walk even though we are close to the mall and restaurants especially when it's dark.
