Long walks along the beach in either direction are an opportunity to appreciate the magnificence of the Garden Route coast. The area is a natural garden of mountains, forest, fynbos, rivers and ocean, for it is here that the coastal platform narrows, bringing the mountains close to the sea. A favourite outing is to walk along the beach to Arch Rock and the Matjies River, enjoy a picnic, then back along the cliff path to your accommodation at ArchRock Resort. There is an ancient Strandlopers’ cave along this escarpment overlooking the beach, an excellent vantage point for spotting whales and dolphins.

Views across the ocean to Plettenberg Bay and the Robberg Peninsula Reserve to the west, and Nature’s Valley to the east are unrivalled. ArchRock Resort is named after one of the unusual rock formations scattered along Keurbooms Beach. Here you may sit and watch the waves crashing through the ‘nave’ and the blue sky shining through the ‘clerestory’ above.

The town of Plettenberg Bay is only 10min drive away, en route you will find the Keurbooms River with its very own Island. The river is ideal for skiing, fishing, canoeing and boat cruises. Knysna, voted South Africa's favorite town in 2004, is a mere 30 minutes away and is home to the world famous Knysna Lagoon, Knysna Heads and the much loved Knysna oyster.
