31 km from Sugar Mountain Resort, The Wanderer Guesthouse is a recently renovated property located in Boone and provides air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. With river views, this accommodation offers a balcony. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. The bed and breakfast provides guests with a terrace, mountain views, a seating area, a flat-screen TV, a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and an oven, and a private bathroom with bidet and slippers. Welcome to the Wanderer Guesthouse. Located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we're 5 minutes to downtown Blowing Rock and 10 minutes to downtown Boone. The Mountains-to-Sea trail and Blue Ridge Parkway are just steps outside the door, making the Wanderer the perfect home base for travelers. With four uniquely-designed, private suites, we are a launching point for outdoor adventures and a place to quiet your thoughts and reconnect. It's the perfect blend of luxury, nature, community and rest.
We’re Erin and Jonathan Carpenter, a couple from Boone, now dwelling in Charleston, South Carolina. We've always loved to travel, and while creating The Wanderer, we drew inspiration from places we've visited. This space is full of influences from our travels, from South African guesthouses to Irish bed and breakfasts. These types of stays have always been our favorite because we had our own space, but also had the chance to meet new people, eat breakfast, and feel at home-away-from-home. We hope that you have the same experience here at The Wanderer. And more importantly, we hope you come away rested and inspired.
Boone and Blowing Rock are the High Country’s hub for outdoor activities all year long. Choose between hiking, mountain biking, floating down the New River in inflatable tubes, berry picking, alpine roller-coaster riding, picnicking with wild ponies at Greyson Highlands, or cooling off in one of the many swimming holes and waterfalls in the area. During the winter, spend the day on one of the three ski slopes in the area (9 minutes from Appalachian Ski Mountain). Several wineries are tucked away in the mountains nearby, as well as breweries, shops, restaurants, and art galleries. No matter what you love to do or what season it is, you’ll find adventures to fill your days.
