  • Is it easy to find parking in late August? Can we walk or take shuttle bus into Acadia National Park?

    It is the busy time in the Acadia, so it can be harder to find the parking, but there are big parking lots in the park. And yes, you can use the fare-free shuttle bus (Island Explorer) that linking our Inn with destinations in Acadia National Park.

  • Is a hot breakfast included,?

    Yes it is served daily - and varies from day to day. There is also a self serve area with fruit, sweet breads, yogourt and cereals --- Hope that answers your question. We also try to accommodate special dietary restrictions

Jim’s Journey In February of 1993, Jim purchased the Inn. Jim was born in Australia and loves traveling the world. After getting mugged in NYC on one of his adventures, he went to the Port Authority, explained his situation, and was put on a bus to Bar Harbor, Maine by the caring woman behind the counter. This chance journey was the beginning of Jim’s story in Maine. He planned to run the Inn for about five years, yet he felt the island’s pull as he returned to open the Inn each season. Eventually, he knew he had two homes-one in Australia and one in Southwest Harbor-and obtained dual citizenship.
