~~ Our Neighborhood: Little Italy, North End ~~ 1. The North End is full of “mom and pops” stores, where you can get just about any Italian delicacy. For supermarket shopping, Hanover Street and Salem Street have the most to offer - we highly recommend Whole Foods Supermarket - good for you and the planet. There is a map and directions in your visitors’ guide in the apartment. For fashion, downtown is a short distance away. Salem Street True Value has anything that you need for the home. 2. For public transportation, you can choose either North Station (Green Line) which is a straight walk on Commercial Street North toward the Fleet Center or Hay market (Green Line). To get to Hay Market Station, walk all the way to the end of Hanover St. (away from the water). You then cross the park and the station will be on your left. Both stations are approximately a 7-10 minute walk. I like the Haymarket Station better because it is a nicer walk. For South Station, you can take the bus from the corner of Battery and Commercial or just call Town Taxi South station is about a 20 minute walk.
