The original 19th century property of Airwell, located on the outskirts of the small, quaint town of Purcellville, consists of nearly 5 acres of giant, old trees and beautifully landscaped gardens with a variety of colors, textures, and hideaways. The focal point of the side yard is the large fountain surrounded by beautiful red roses and white lilies. The grounds provide the perfect place to unwind with a great book, lounge in the hammock, or enjoy a glass of wine as you watch the sunset over the Blue Ridge Mountains. In addition to being the home of renowned landcape artist Lucien Powell, the setting of Airwell along the Snickersville Turnpike is significant to our nation's history. Many Civil War skirmishes took place along the turnpike as well. In fact, it is said that soldiers camped right on our property, and recently we unearthed a half cannonball as evidence. The Greek Revival style house is a unique gem with two stone porches, two grand entryways, 5 working fireplaces, hardwood floors, a cozy library, and original crystal chandeliers. Guests are welcome to relax by the fireplace in the library or spacious, comfortable living room.

We are Todd and Lisa Peterson, family of four , with two adult children. We both grew up in Michigan, but moved to northern VA 30 years ago when we first were married. Since our honeymoon, we always have had the dream to open up our own bed and breakfast, so in 2009 we bought Airwell. We began the long process of renovation and landscaping. In 2015, we were thrilled to open the Airwell Bed and Breakfast, and truly enjoy creating a beautiful, memorable experience for our guests. Meeting and getting to know new guests is our favorite part of innkeeping, not to mention cooking, baking, decorating, and gardening!

We absolutely love western Loudoun! Besides the beauty of the mountains ,scenic countryside, and horse farms, there is so much to see and do. Our guests especially enjoy the local wineries and breweries, which are all so unique. Hiking and biking are just minutes away, as we live very near the Appalachian Trail and the WO&D bike trail. If you are a history buff, you can get your fill of Civil War history at the battlefields and museums.
