The founder, Chih Ming Wu was born and grew up in Jiufen. His father engaged in mining and the cost of living for the whole family was seldom affordable. According to this, Chih Ming Wu chose to work after graduation from junior high school. When his business made a hit, there was always a voice deeply inside his heart calling him back to the lovely hometown! Just as the homing instinct of salmon, he went back to Jiufen and then purchased the current building in 1995. In order to convey the beauty of Jiufen, he built inns for travellers from the perspective of local culture and the 70s melody of phonograph records was played softly around the space.

Chiu Chunt Dint was originally a store which sold coal in the gold reserve area. In early times, there was no gas. Coal was an important necessity for the residents because lack of it led to the difficulty of boiling water and cooking. Coming after the flourish of mining, the bustling Jishan Street, one of the most significant streets in Jiufen, was always full of stores and restaurants. Unfortunately, the mining industry kept on developing until the decline of gold production in 1957 and the prosperity of Jiufen also no longer existed. "Chiu Chunt Dint" , as a representitive of a city of sadness, experienced the prosperity of Jiufen for nearly sixty years. It also witnessed the rise and fall of the mining industry and the change of youngsters emigration. However, with the booming development of tourism industry, the city prospered once again.
