Chris or Prof as he is know locally & I built "Carpe Diem Villa" -as Eco responsible accommodation- for us to enjoy & to have family & friends visit. It has been such a great success that we ended up having guests as well- as it would be just too selfish not to share what we have here in Castara, "Our Paradise". Sometimes as we stand on the balcony we have to pinch ourselves to make sure we are not dreaming! We love cooking the fresh fish & using local produce & have made many friends here & guests that return time & time again. We are both active members of the Castara Tourism Development Association (CTDA)-follow us on social media to see the latest environmental projects that we have all been working on such as glass, cans & plastic recycling. There are now recycling bins on the main beach for you to use! Please bring your own cotton tote bag rather than the plastic ones that you will be given in the shops as it all helps towards reducing plastic waste! Castara is a small friendly fishing village on the Caribbean side of Tobago & Fresh fish is available for sale almost every afternoon around 3-4pm. The village boasts several bars & restaurants/cafes. The small village stores sell everything from bread, fresh fruit, vegetables to plumbing parts! There is a small health centre & pharmacy. Its a 2 minute walk down to the 2x Sandy beaches & warm water of the Caribbean sea - good for snorkelling, bathing & fishing -with sun loungers for hire. The main beach has lifeguards on duty. The Seine net is still cast most days from the main beach-don't just watch or take photos-Join in ! Place your order for bread & cakes from the dirt bread ovens on the main beach -not to be missed! Castara has a small Waterfall which is just a short stroll - Perfect for a cold dip on a hot day! Local fishermen offer days out to fish or Local boat tour operators can take you out for a day trip including a beach BBQ, snorkelling or diving. It makes a brilliant day out-make sure that you bring plenty of sun cream! We can suggest local people & companies for car rental, taxi/airport transfer. There's plenty to do :- Trips to Englishman's bay, Sunday school or Goat racing during Easter. Turtle watching during egg laying season, Bird watching, Rain Forest walks, Sightseeing, Scuba Diving, Snorkelling & Fishing-just to name a few!!
