'Karst is captivating' wrote the Slovenian poet Marko Kravos and it's impossible not to agree with him. Captivating nature, people, a captivating place for a holiday. The old stone house Hiša Pliska has been restored retaining many of original Karst architecture. This deceptively spacious cottage with the cosy apartment with big terrace on first floor, offers an authentic connection with this region. Very suitable for a family holiday, for hikers or cyclists. Best thing about spending your holiday here is that you can spend it either in an active holiday or a peaceful retreat. Travellers will enjoy the fact that from the courtyard the nearby places can be easily reached on foot, with a bicycle, a motorbike or a car. The Pliska stone house is perfect as a base for visiting the western part of Slovenia (the Karst region, the North Primorska and the Mediterranean Sea). If you feel like rolling up your sleeves, the owners own a piece of land hidden in the vineyards that needs mowing in the summer. Or you can just relax soaking in the calming vibes of Karst and having a picnic in the owner’s meadow and having a bath under the stars at the end of the day.

Enjoy the Pliskovica village known as the ‘bird village’ because of the many locals’ last names that mean different types of birds. Get to know more about the life of the locals by hiking the Pliska Trail. While here, discover all the quirks: the trellis of European friendship that symbolizes the friendship with 25 members of European Union, the old common village well, the St. Thomas's Church, the great wineries offering a sip of Teran, ‘the healing wine’ as the locals like to call it. There are also the local stonemason and the beekeeper. The fairytale world of Karst caves Vilenica, Škocjan and Postojna is on our doorstep. Or take a trip to the Gorizia Region and Brda in the north or the seaside in the south. The neighbouring Italy is almost as close. Hikers will enjoy a hike to the Nanos Plateau, the hills Volnik or Trstelj with an amazing view of the Alps and Dolomites in the north together with the Karst and the Mediterranean Sea in the south. Visit the stables in Lipica with the world-famous white horses Lipizzaner and the golf course, enjoy rafting on the emerald Soča river. To tease your taste buds there are many restaurants with delicious local food or with Michelin star.
