In a little village in the Istrian hills between Koper and Croatia, Flegi is a family escape from city life and stress. What you find are all amenities of city life, but without the stress. You live in your own house, enjoy both indoor and outdoor kitchen / dining facilities, a private pool and are welcome to pick and eat anything that grows in the vegetable garden. Flegi was built in 2009 as a copy of two old stone buildings. Designed as a two house retreat for our family, the hosts live in the "parents" house. In summer, we open the estate and the "kids" house to families or groups of friends. Guests and hosts only share a utility room with washer, drier and ironing facilities. A home office with uninterrupted wi-fi is ready for work nomads. There are two flat screen TVs with Netflix for sports and movie enthusiasts as well as for gamers. All indoor areas are climatized. While entertainment, the beach, shopping and sightseeing opportunities are within close driving distance in the coastal towns both in Slovenia and Italy, Flegi offers relaxation, privacy and leisure. There is no traffic noise at night, only deer, crickets and nightingales. Shorter and longer hiking and biking trails can be explored, but siesta is observed in summer as a matter of normalcy. If in doubt, our cats will demonstrate in glorious detail how to enjoy life without care. We have several rescued cats. They are cared for, neutered and fed. While they are shy, they are territory conscious and curious about newcomers. They coexist well with guests'dogs and cats. Obviously, we are pet friendly, but we do request pet owners to contact us for additional information before booking. Come join us.

We are both journalists working from home, passionate about Istria and its culinary treasures. Reading, cooking, gardening, hiking, taking a day off and hosting is our second passion, while the first is enjoying our rescued cats. We live on the property in a separate building and regularly disturb our guests when tending to the vegetable garden and watering plants.

Istria looks much like Tuscany - hills with scattered stone house villages. Yet, the seaside is never far. In a half hour, it can be either Trieste with its timeless elegance and good coffee, beach with a sea breeze, or steaks and truffles in one of many surrounding restaurants. Ample shopping opportunity of all kinds is either in Koper (20 minutes) or on the Italian side (a half hour), two small village shops are within 5 minutes.
