Ideally situated just 6 minutes drive from historic Russell village, Waikare Cove offers a true snapshot of natural New Zealand. A 5 minute walk down the drive gets you to our boathouse where there's free kayaks, fishing dinghy, fishing gear. Beaches are located nearby or in Russell. Fabulous walks start virtually from the front door and the Opua cycle trail is just down the hill and across the car ferry: 18 kms total from the front door or as little as you want to take on. Beautiful gardens, wonderful deck with BBQ and table, trampoline, scooters for the kids, table tennis and 3 bicycles for you, croquet, tennis rackets, golf clubs - all available for your free use! Its a private resort here and we have beds for up to 10 people + a sofa in the games room.
We are retired professionals who are highly involved in outdoor sports. We like to provide our guests with as many sporting diversions on the property as we can. We live not far away so are available to assist with any needs that might pop up. You only need to ask!
Although we are only a short distance to Russell, our home is set on its on within a 5 acre property. Beautiful walk to the inlet's edge, beautiful walks from the front door - from a 2 km circuit through wonderful native forest to a compete circuit of the Bay: walk the trail to Russell and enjoy morning coffee at the waterfront, take the passenger ferry to Paihia, walk around town and have lunch, walk back along the ocean's edge to the car ferry and cross over to our side again and walk 1 km back to the house: stunning all day adventure. Or kayak the long, calm waters of Waikare Inlet, fish out front of our property for snapper or kahawai. You can charter fishing boats for ocean fishing, take a cruise around the islands, picnic on Urapukapuka Island for the day, travel 15 minutes from Opua to discover giant, ancient Kauri trees (over 1000 years old!), or travel even further for more exciting sites. Its all here!
