"taradise" is a little haven set in the township of Ōpunakē but surrounded by one acre of organic gardens, trees and birds. You will be just 5 minutes walk from Middleton Bay and the Ōpunakē Loop Trail for walking and biking. Our accommodation features a living area with unlimited wifi but no TV. This area also houses the fully equipped kitchenette plus the bathroom. The sleep cloud stands separately at the other edge of the extensive covered deck. Behind the living areas is a screened outdoor bath, shower and sitting area. These have hot and cold running water. Deck chairs , a BBQ and a table are set on the deck so you can enjoy the flocks of chickens and Indian Runner Ducks that share your surrounding garden. This is a very private and quiet space where you can be lulled to sleep by the sound of the ocean. The property is secure with lots of parking space for bikes and kayaks etc. From here it is easy to fish, kayak, climb Mt Taranaki, run the loop trail, visit all the funky boutiques and artist spaces that are part of Ōpunakē Open Studios and Galleries, swim and surf, fly kites on The Recreational Reserve etc, etc. Or you can just sit in the sun on the deck in the lounge chairs and fall in love with doing very little. We cater for all this. Our property is as environmentally friendly as we can make it having been created out of repurposed materials. We use only natural cleaning products, our linen is cleaned in house using eco products and air drying. The garden is permaculture and chemical free, designed to support pollinators, birds and other natural occupants. Visitors are welcome to walk through the gardens which are always a work ing progress. We hope you will choose to stay with us and to enjoy the peace and restoration our space can offer you. viv and Rob have been developing "taradise" since 2016 having arrived in Ōpunakē in 2012. We love the closeness of the Tasman Sea and The Maunga. Our dream is to create a place of rest, quiet, and beauty with a richness of plantings that can create microclimates around the property. Wild and Native Birds are coming into the garden now to raise their families in a safe and rich environment. This is part of the dream we are realising. When we arrived here the paddock was bare grass and we have been healing the land and allowing the restoration of biodiversity. We offer this to visitors to enjoy, to enrich their own lives. viv is a working artist and Gallerist with her gallery 'from out of the blue studio gallery' being attached to the main house at the front of the property. Our guests are welcome to come and visit the gallery and see viv's working spaces. Her practice is textile and fibre base specialising in weaving and natural dying.
