We are delighted to be the new owners of Kingsdown Manor (March 2022)and we are honoured to continue its legacy of providing wonderful accommodation and beautiful event spaces for groups of up to 110 people for weddings and other special occasions. We are currently working hard to improve the grounds and the Manor to further beautify and preserve this special place. You may see the odd bit of garden still in progress. We are sure you are going to love it as much as we do!

*6 minutes south of Timaru, 8 minutes to Restaurants & Cafes. 2 mins to the ocean via Ellis Road with 15min walk to Jacks Point and lighthouse. We are a wedding venue with chapel & garden Turret Suite: Super king bed, luxury turret bathroom, separate toilet, bonus 2nd bedroom, ocean view Sleeping Beauty Suite: 2x Queen beds, modern ensuite, fridge, ocean view and courtyard view Fairy Tale Dreams Suite: 1x Queen bed, small refurbished ensuite We can suggest several very good restaurants in Timaru which will be about an 8 minute drive from our location. For breakfast, we will serve you breakfast in our beautiful dining room and make you a fresh coffee or tea along with cereals and fruit and we will cook you eggs on toast, either poached, scrambled or fried. Room descriptions: *The Fairytale suite has a luxury Queen bed, a small ensuite, smart TV and vintage tub-chairs and dining furniture. This stunning room has a courtyard view and is newly renovated. *The Enchanting Tower Suite has a magnificent soaker tub, large shower, luxury fittings, Super King bed, dining table, smart TV, couch, and tea and coffee facilities. This room is often referred to as the Bridal Suite. If traveling and wanting separate rooms for 2, or up to 4 you can book the 2nd room beside it with a Queen bed next door (we call it Enchanting Tower room 2). This room has views to the farm and ocean as well. There is a fridge which is shared by these rooms and The Fairy Tale Suite in the hallway. Enchanting Turret suite rooms 1 & 2 both share the Turret bathroom and toilet which is easily accessed by both rooms a few steps from Room 1. No other guests use this toilet or bathroom. The outdoor pool is available certain months of the year. It is heated to 26 degrees. We can supply you with extra towels when you want to take a dip. Please just let us know and we will show you how to access the pool. If you have booked both suites you are welcome to use the Manor dining/lounge area during your stay.

We are situated on the Timaru Loop from which tourists can explore Lakes (Tekapo and Hawea), Mountains (Hutt, Dobson, Fox and Cook/Aoraki), cycle trails and the much loved Caroline Bay Beach voted in the top 10 in NZ. We are not far from Geraldine which has boutique stores and fantastic places to eat such as the Barkers restaurant. There are lovely walks and cycle ways along the Timaru coast nearby (see Venture Timaru online) and Fishing and hunting guided tours. Travelers have been known to stay here before going on to Dunedin and they love to stop in at Riverstone Castle only 45 minutes away for a tour of the castle and lunch at the excellent restaurant and gift shops. We are so fortunate to see mountains and the sea on either side of the property and this is just magical in winter. If you want a farmhouse style cafe for brunch, check out Harlau House less than 10 minutes away. Timaru has movie theatres, an aquatic center, ale houses, organic food farmers market on Saturday mornings and plenty of interesting shops and facilities. If you fancy spotting the blue penguins located at the end of Caroline Bay, just check out Timaru Penguins online for viewing advice. On a warm evening it is quite a lovely (and free) activity but be prepared for it to be quite late (10pm) before you can snap any pictures. We love taking a quick walk to Jacks Point Lighthouse which is only a 2 minute drive from Kingsdown Manor at Ellis Road. The path is well laid out and takes you along the coast with a nice rest stop at the lighthouse! This is also perfect for a bike ride to town. It is also possible to cycle down Bristol Road and it has much less traffic typically. We do not provide bikes but you are welcome to bring your own.
