Welcome to Solbu - a newly built, modern and homely cabin in a sunny area at 970 m.a.s.l. Family-friendly and a perfect starting point for hiking experiences in both summer and winter. Rauland is located in Vinje municipality in Vestfold and Telemark. The area is roughly halfway between east and west, with approx. 3 hours from Oslo and 4 hours from Western Norway. The cabin is over two levels with four bedrooms, a large, well-equipped and spacious kitchen, two living rooms, two bathrooms and a small sauna. Outside there is a large terrace with outdoor furniture and a fire pit. Bedroom 1 and bedroom 2 have double beds of 150 cm. Bedroom 3 and bedroom 4 have double beds of 150 cm and bunks of 90 cm above. The loft living room has a comfortable sofa bed of 150 cm, so it is quite possible to have 12 people in the cabin. A cot can be arranged if required. Otherwise, the cabin is equipped with a washing machine, hairdryer, dishwasher, kitchen machine, blender, coffee maker, coffee grinder, kettle, set for hand brewing coffee, toaster, good kitchen knives etc. There are TVs in both living rooms (smart TV and Chromecast) and WIFI freely available. A selection of board games, puzzles and books are also available. Rented out to people over 25 and families with children. No smoking, animals or parties (possibly allergy-friendly animals by agreement).

We will always be available by phone during your stay Quiet and peaceful neighborhood. The cottage is located in a cul-de-sac. There is parking by the cabin wall. In winter, the road is completely plowed. There is a bus connection from Oslo and all the way up the mountain (5 minutes to walk from the bus to the cabin).

In summer, you can choose between a large number of hiking trails and summit hikes of varying length and difficulty. In winter, you can strap on your skis and follow the track straight up to the postcard-beautiful Silkedalen or choose another beautiful ski tour in a trail network of a total of 150 km. If you prefer alpine skiing, there are several options to choose from at Rauland Høgfjellshotell (4 km), Rauland Ski Center (6.5 km) or in Holtardalen (8 km), a total of 29 runs. There are also good fishing opportunities in the area. Vierli Kafeteria is a short walk, ski or car ride away and is a nice place to relax with good food or drink. The area around the cafeteria is also a perfect place to be with children. In winter, there are ski slopes and scooter trails for children. In summer, the children's seats with Norwegian farm animals are a wonderful place to be. The playground with, among other things, a climbing frame, swings, tarzan sling, slide and trampoline has recently been upgraded. At Vierli you can also hire a boat or canoe and take a tour of idyllic Uvatn. The cabin is also a very good starting point if you want to use a car to experience West Telemark. A short drive (14 km) takes you to Skinnarbu and the dam at Telemark's largest lake, Møsvatn. Here you can take a refreshing bath or enjoy a day on the boat "Fjellvåken" which will take you into the Hardangervidda to Mogen. Otherwise, it is 21 km to Vemork with the Norwegian Industrial Workers' Museum and opportunities to complete Norway's highest bungee jump, Maristigen and Rjukanfossen. It is 25 km to the cable car "Krossobanen" and Gvepseborg Café. Rjukan Climbing Park is also located here. Rjukan center (35 km) and Rjukanbadet (36 km) are also worth a visit. So is a hike up to Telemark's highest mountain, Gaustatoppen, or a trip inside the mountain with the Gaustabanen (50 km). It is 11 km to the center of Rauland.
