Sommarøy/Hillesøy is the most western point in Tromsø Municipality. It`s a small fishing village about 1h drive from the airport, where you can enjoy the nature to the fullest. Already from early September to early April, you can experience our magical Northern Light (Aurora Borealis). Because of the low light pollution out here, you only have to step out of the door to see it dancing, when the weather conditions are right. Or you can even watch it trough the windows from the inside, if you find it too cold outside. Just remember to turn of the lights! In the summer time, you have several small beaches around to choose from. Enjoy staying up late under the midnight sun, listening to all the bird life and mabe an other will pass you on his way out looking for fish.
You find yourself in a small Fishing Village, where it's safe and the perfect place to relax. We have the local store just a few minutes drive from Cabin Aurora (15min to walk there), and Sommarøy Hotel nearby as well. Here you can go for lunch or dinner, have a coffee or a glass of wine and mabe rent one of their saunas or outdoor Jacuzzi. Even if this is a small place, it has it`s buzz of life and energy. That`s why we truly love this place ourselves! The best way to get here, is by car. Once you are out here, it's easy to get around both by car and by walking.
