Our cozy Guesthouse is located in the center of a small fisher village called Mehamn. Just 24 km away from the most northern point of the European mainland, Cape Nordkinn. We are located on the Nordkinn Peninsula, surrounded by the Barents Sea. The nearest neighbor villages are Gamvik in the east and Kjøllefjord southwest. You can reach us by car, the famous Hurtigruten Cruises ship or daily by airplane from Kirkenes or Tromsø. The Blue House offers a cozy flat under the roof, a bright bathroom with a heated floor, a modern equipped kitchen and a cozy living and sleeping room with a fireplace. In the cellar, we have a sauna, with a separate shower and an additional WC. Outside you will find a spacious terrace with great views over the local harbor and the mountains surrounding Mehamn. The living room is functioning also as sleeping room. You will find a 1.4m bed for two people and another single bed for one person.
I am originally from Germany but for more than 20 years I am also living and working in Russia and Norway. I like to travel, nature, wilderness and therefore I also like the Finmark a lot! I bought the "Blue House" in 2016, renovated and rebuild it within two full years. The house itself is from 1947 and one of the first houses in Mehamn after the village was burned down almost 100% during the end of the II World War. The house and the garden were in very poor condition when I took over but now the house is fully renovated, cozy and modernly equipped and so it became the "Blue House at the end of the world". Mehamn is located in an area of Norway called Finnmark or also known as Northern Lapland or in the language of the native Sami it’s called Sapmi. Finnmark is larger than Switzerland but with a population of only 75000 people. Situated far north of the Arctic Circle, Finnmark has midnight sun and polar nights. Because of the dry climate with frequent clear skies, it is as of September a perfect location to see phenomenal northern lights. Finnmark has crystal clean drinkable water in the rivers and lakes, extreme rich fish life and it is a paradise for all who love to pick mushrooms, cloud-, blue-, cran-, and crowberries.
