Located near the entrance to the Medina - easy access to shops and a great guy selling a huge. variety of fresh fruit! - The breakfast was good and the food in the hotel was excellent including room service. The rooms were stylish - tastefully decorated and well appointed - the photos on the app don’t do the pool and roof terrace justice - it is much larger - the sun beds and towels provided are superb and the pool is much bigger than you would think also the views are superb - all in all a luxurious Riad for a memorable stay!

Commonly spelled Fez, this city was Morocco’s capital during Middle Ages. The city was originally composed of two separate settlements located along the banks of the Jawhar River. Madinat Fas was founded in 789 by Idris I, while Al-'Aliya was founded by his son Idris II. Both towns grew autonomously until the Almoravids unified them in 1070 under the name ‘Fas’. The city is still considered a beacon of the Islamic civilisation, due to its ancient ‘madrasas’ Islamic colleges.
The Old Town or ‘medina’ has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, representing one of the best preserved historic centres in the world. The famous ‘riads’ or small traditional hotels are located in the medina, which is also called Fes Al-Bali.
The city can be reached through Fès Saïss Airport, or from the airports in Casablanca and Rabat via railway or bus connection. Whether you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Fez New Town or a historic ‘riad’ in the medina, don’t miss Booking.com’s wide offering!

I would not recommend visiting Fes if you're looking for a clean and family-friendly environment. The city can feel overwhelming due to its crowded streets and numerous tourist traps. Additionally, the food options in the area are often not the cleanest or most appetizing, which could be a concern for travelers. If you're traveling with young children or seeking a more relaxed atmosphere, you might want to consider other destinations.

Beautiful place, make sure to visit the tanneries, the medina and get a local guide. We used Aadil, he was great, he grew up there and took us to EVERYTHING. Don't try and do it alone, you'll miss too much.

I spent four nights in Fes but three would be enough.
I spent four nights in Fes but three would be enough. I was looking for the sun and to experience the old Medina. The city is full of history but sometimes your eye has to be able to see past the decay ...and your nose to be closed! The city is not for those of delicate disposition. However, I enjoyed my walks through the Ancient Medina and I stopped to talk to the shopkeepers. Nobody really hassled us, actually they were all very nice. I got lost two or three times and I always asked for directions in my desperate French...they always gave precise directions and I got where I had to go with no difficulty. There is some signage...but it is not consistent! The goods are in abundance and the prices are variable but much cheaper than Marrakech. So, if you are thinking to buy some leather goods or small handcrafted tin/brass tables, Fes is the place for you. I nearly bought a wonderful camel wool blanket but I came to my senses and I realised that we were Ryanair passengers and it was not feasable to take the huge blanket with us. They asked me 350 MAD for real camel wool, handmade blanket in traditional colours....that was a bargain. Going around the city and looking at the young and old people, you realise that Moroccans don't have an easy run in life, and the whole experience makes you think about your existence in the cushy european world. Fes is a good starting point to understand traditional Morocco. Be careful when you cross roads. They have a remarkable system in place: on the large boulevard, they have the pedestrian lights on one lane but nothing on the other lane (opposite side). I believe that this system has been studied to keep your senses always awake and remove any false sense of safety when you are a pedestrian and you are on the roads!

A world Heritage Site.
A world Heritage Site. It was like going back 1200 years to a living, breathing, walled city. It felt very safe. Largest pedestrian area in the world. Oldest university in the world. Beautiful architecture and decoration. The cooperatives produce beautiful textiles of cactus silk, cotton and linen. The tannery is spectacular. It produces stunning leather using original hand techniques. All dyes are natural, poppy gives red, saffron yellow, blue comes from indigo. And there are so many styles of leather jacket to choose from. An amazing experience. You have to be relatively fit. It's all walking and lots of stairs.

In my personal experience (at age 80), having traveled to perhaps 30 countries and lived abroad in Geneva (for high school) in Boquete, Panama (all of 2009) and traveled around the world for about 8 months over the last six years, Fez (Fes) is a visual, auditory, sensory, and cerebral feast. I can't really put words to it; you have to go there.

Spending time exploring the huge Medina, and bargaining for purchases, was fun. Remember to walk away if you're not happy with the price.
There is a wonderful mature gardens just outside the Medina Blue Gate. An oasis of shade and calm after the bustle of the narrow lanes and passages of the Medina. The adjacent cafe/restaurant is a must to visit.
There are an enormous number of cafes and restaurants to choose from, both inside and outside the Medina.
Taxis are cheap and are the most popular way to get around Fes. You can also book a taxi from the Riad for a day visit to other places of interest.
Our trip in Morocco could not start better than this: a traditional, cozy and very well located riad in the heart of the medina! The place is amazing and the staff is simply the best we had in Morocco. Hamza and Mahmoud are friendly, professional and very good at what they do. I will definitely come back.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. They accommodated an extension to our stay. The roof terrace is great and gives amazing views of Fes. A great place to relax and read. The breakfast was impressive, the best we had in Morocco. The rooms were clean and with comfy beds. Would recommend this hotel.
We had a really nice stay at the hotel. The stuff was very nice and showed us all the things we could possibly do in Fes. The guy who was at the rezeption when we arrived even drew us a whole plan so we could find our way threw the Medina. The breakfast at the rooftop was very good too!
Very traditional Dar (house) in a great position in the old Medina of Fes. It’s an historical building so don’t expect all the comfort of a 5-star hotel, but it has everything you need! The host was incredibly friendly and helpful
A tiny hotel with just a few rooms next to the Medina. Rooms are very clean. The stuff ist extremely friendly. Thanks for making us a great stay in Fes
