We had such an amazing experience during our three-night stay.
Location : Hotel is perfectly located, away from roads and city. It is not in heart of Tangalle, but it is what we liked, being in full nature, isolated from rush. Everything is accessibl with tuktuk, or you can rent a scooter through the hotel (that was we did for 3k rs per 24h). Several beaches and views around the hotel in walking distance.
We chilled at the hotel, few intimate spots with sofa, sun beds, mostly with shade we need.
The pool is incredible. A bit of Azulejos style.
Room : Our room was perfect, clean, very good wifi, best room view ever with a 240° on the ocean. Huge balcony, very large, comfy bed, good bathroom installations. Robust and recent air conditonning, with a silent night mode. Big cooling roof fan working well and silent as well.
Food & service :
Hotel staff is kind and professional. A high level of hospitality service.
Varied food, at reasonable price, which is not the case everywhere around.
We had few lunches and dinners there.
Finally, breakfast is delicious, with full of options : fresh fruits, different teas, coffees, even expresso (we didn't try, because we asked only tea during our stay in Sri-Lanka, Sri-Lankan style with different options, oat & fruits like a DIY porridge, pancakes, freshly break with butter and jam (good quality product, tasty).
We are vegetarian, so we had many options there.

I spent 6 nights in this hotel and if I hadn't had other travel plans I would have definitely stayed there longer. The atmosphere of this place is amazing, you can feel at home and the owner becomes your buddy within minutes.
The view from the balcony in the room on the first floor was fantastic, the room was large, clean and comfortable. The location of the hotel is in my opinion one of the best in this area, on one side 3 steps to the ocean and on the other 3-5 minutes to the all nearby beach bars and restaurants.
I definitely recommend this place!

For us Mangrove Beach Cabanas was the perfect place for our first days in Sri Lanka We loved the cabanas with the pretty stylish bathroom below the cabana, the endless lonely beaches, the sound of the birds in the morning and the magic of fireflies in the palm trees at night
The accomodation was great but it was the staff who Made this place unique. Manik was a perfect host, always smiling, anticipating all our wishes and with a good sense of humor, Dilah prepared great meals (try the rice & curry) and we got many useful advices by Tharindu and others from the team.
10 points from us for the accomodation, 12 points for the staff. We came as guests and left as friends :-)

Tangalle is a fairly sleepy town, with quiet beaches. Great place for a rest and recharge. There are a couple of supermarkets in the town centre, and a bottle shop. The beach is countless bars and restaurants.

I liked the size of the city - just right to walk anywhere, plenty of options to buy fresh fruit, fish and good local food. The bus stand was easy to be found. There were always tuk tuk drivers around for when you needed it, but sometimes they were too eager to give you a ride even if you didn't want to. The city always felt safe, even at night.. even for a solo traveling young woman. There was a great food booth near the bus stand selling the best shawarma ever!
There were plenty of beautiful beaches around, but the sea was too stormy. Nearby in Kapuhenwalla is a good turtle conservation project, where you could go see turtles hatch and lay eggs. I am definitely coming back~

Tangalle is really nice but it is far better just 2/3 kilometres up the coast at Marocolyia beach and lagoon.Very peaceful and tranquil.
This where Coconut Island cabanas is.There is also a small lake about 200 meters from the accommodation which is full with wading birds.Flamingos,Sacred and Glossy Ibis etc etc.

It's an absolute gem if you are looking for a calm, relaxing vacation on the beach near the ocean. The hotel sits just 50 metres from the beach - you can see the views of the ocean from your balcony. The surroundings are amazing - you can walk along the vast shore for miles without hardly meeting anyone, except for a crab or two :). Compared to other places near Sri Lankan coast that we visited during our trip (like Unawatuna, Galle) this was by far the best beach experience. We would come back again without a doubt.
The staff was wonderful :) I got a bit sick at the beginning of the stay and the host very helpful and attentive with extra food and medication. Sri Lankan breakfast was fine, the hotel is walking distance to the nice beach, but far away enough from the main road, so it is not noisy. There are very nice restaurants near by. The room has a terase/balcony for drying towels, clothes, having a drink, etc.
It was really cheap and the accomodation was luxury.
The owner took care of everything and the wifi was awesome compared to other hotels in Sri Lanka.
It is close to the beach and you have more than enough space in your room.
It is the best accomodation I have ever been in Sri Lanka.
