Snapper Rock is a private lodge located at the foot of Mt. Mocchomu in Onoaida, southern Yakushima. The inn itself can be enjoyed as a glamping facility, and tents can be pitched on the deck. (You can bring your own. Tent rentals are available for an additional fee.) You can also enjoy bonfires outside. The nearest bus stop is a 6-minute walk away. It is a quiet place surrounded by nature. The spacious living room (approx. 32m2) can accommodate up to 4 people. The living room and bedroom are in the same space, so it is recommended for one couple or one family. There is an outdoor table and hammock on the deck, so you can relax and enjoy the forest. The parking lot is large and can park 2-3 cars. The building was self-built by the owner. Building materials are made of Yakusugi cedar and local cedar. The walls are plastered, and the kitchen is made from recycled scrap wood. No disposable amenities are placed, and supplies are kept to a minimum, aiming to make the inn friendly to both people and the environment. Please note that there are insects and wild animals on Yakushima Island, so please be careful not to let them into the rooms by putting up a screen door when opening a window. some insects may come in even if you have a screen door. We recommend that those who do not like insects avoid staying. Furniture and bed mats have been selected to be moveable so that they can be used in tent sites. If you are looking for luxurious accommodations, please avoid staying here. We recommend this lodging for those who love the outdoors. Note: Several times a year, between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. during the rainy season, winged ants are seen in large numbers on the island. Because they are attracted to lights, we ask visitors to close windows and turn off interior lighting. We appreciate your understanding.
