The house is the north part of twin house structure (and independent from the south) and first built in 1930’s as wooden townhouse with its unique twin design at the time. After continuous minor modifications and fixations over several decades since then, the entire building went through its first-time full renovation in 2016 by a collaboration of Kyoto’s top machiya (traditional Kyoto wooden house) renovator and provider HACHISE CO.,LTD. and Kyoto’s entrepreneur architecture, furniture and interior designer FHAMS CO., LTD. The two-story townhouse consists of a stainless island kitchen in a wide dining area, a living room, a tea room facing a Japanese garden, a spacious entrance hall, an open air wood deck, and a powder/toilet room (with an automatic washer and dryer machine) and a shower/bath room facing the garden on the 1st floor and the master bedroom (either two single beds or a super-king), a tatami room (double), and the center hall (double) on the 2nd floor. The tea room on the 1st floor can be used for a single bedroom if not used for relaxing space to view the small Japanese garden over coffee/tea.

Realized the values of Kyoto and its historical machiya townhouse when the owner stayed in the city for half a year as management consultant. A couple of years later, he bought a machiya property for his second house as well as accommodate for tourists. Leveraging his various experience such as consultant, mechanical engineer, and director of HR and internal operations, the owner now operates two properties in Kyoto. He hosted over 200 groups from around the world (US, UK, Australia, France, Switzerland, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, etc.) of various compositions (familis, couples, and friends). 3 min to subway/tram stations (Saiin), 5 min subway ride to Kawaramachi / Shijo / Gion, a direct access to Arashiyama (19min tram), Kinkaku-ji (17min bus), and Osaka (45min). The largest restaurant/bar area in the west around the stations and two supermarkets in 30 to 90 seconds from the house. Saiin area is the largest restaurant/bar and business area in the west part of Kyoto while the house is located a couple of blocks away from Shijo Street, the largest and the main street running the city from west to east. The neighbor is a very calm residential area with old townhouses well remained and has two supermarkets within 30 to 90 seconds walk. 3 min to Sai station of Randen train (that goes to Arashiyama in 19 min) 7 min to Saiin station of Hankyu train (that goes to Karasuma/Kawaramachi/Gion in 5-6 min or Osaka in 45 min) 7 min to Nishioji-Shijo bus stop (from which you can directly go to the closeset bus stp to Kinkakuji in 17 min) 12 min to Kyoto station with the combination of Hanyu train (to Karasuma) and the subway or 13 min by taxi Rental bikes are available next to Hankyu Saiin station. 10 min or so (2km) to Nijo castle by bike.
