Imakumano Terrace An is a small, locally owned independent hotel managed by the owners and a passionate team. The hotel provides guests with private traditional townhouses for both short and long-stays, housekeeping and bespoke concierge services. Guests rent one whole house with a private garden. We would like guests to feel pampered and relaxed all in a cozy setting. Although we are a small hotel our commitment to being socially responsible and ensuring environmentally conscious practices are fulfilled is very important to us and a big deal. Our vision and goals for the hotel also includes creating machiyas tha can be enjoyed by all, that are family friendly and committed to the community. We have also designed one of Kyoto's first disabled friendly machiya townhouses that is specifically designed to be wheelchair accessible, services for those with impaired vision or hearing, and service dog friendly. Located in a private and tranquil lane, our of 5 properties have been designed to bring the best elements and charms of Japanese architecture and interiors creating a charming and cozy retreat. Each machiya is a perfect blend of old-world architecture with with modern with modern twists, technological luxuries, curated art and antiques, creating the perfect intimate retreat and indigenous experience here in Kyoto. Special features of each machiya include a full functioning kitchen with dining area combined family seating, a flat screen TV and private garden views. Our bathrooms feature a changing room area, a Japanese bathtub and separate shower facilities. Each property has a separate washing machine and dryer. In addition to the sleeping areas, each machiya has a unique play area from a built in sofa to an tatami daybed. A variety of amenities and services are available during your stay. There are many hidden gems around the hotel which we are happy to secretly whisper to you during your stay! We are located near Tofuku-ji, Sanjyusangendo, Fushimi-Inari and Kiyomizu Temple. Within walking distance is also Senyuji, Chisakuin and The Kyoto National Museum founded in 1895 and with a modern wing designed by internationally acclaimed architect Taniguchi Yoshio. Our local high street has a variety of local grocery stores, supermarkets, bakeries, cafes and restaurants. There are many fine dining options including Japanese, Italian and French restaurants and wonderful options in the surrounding five star hotels.
