Room was very nice thank - spacious, good size bathroom, wonderful view. The staff came in at night to transform our futon beds - they were so polite and incredibly efficient to watch! The breakfast was huge, lots of choice and very friendly and helpful staff. Reception were always polite and eager to help. The best bit was the private onsen - that was magical and we tried out both! Oh and the shop was fantastic too, stocking some fabulous food items

Miyajima is a beautiful place to visit, and the wider island is a paradise. You can absolutely walk everywhere you want to go, but the Ryokan does offer a shuttle from the ferryport (which we used for our luggage!)
My boyfriend and I had planned to explore Miyajima town after dark, along with the floating Tori gate. I can't understate how much more impressive this was, at night and at sunrise than we had imagined. This was only possible because we were able to stay overnight on the island.
The facilities are fantastic, we opted for a traditional room. This was our first experience on Tatami or using a futon bed. We found it very comfortable and easy to set up, don't be intimidated!
Aside from the hotel itself, dinner and breakfast were incredible! Dinner showed off seafood from Miyajima and was delicious and filling!

It gives you time to take the ropeway cable car up the mountain, and potentially hike to the top. You get to see the Torii gates at all different tides, and without the crowds.

A full day on Miyajima is a good amount of time to explore...
A full day on Miyajima is a good amount of time to explore this pretty island. Catch the 2 stage gondolier up Mount Misen (or climb the trail if you're feeling active) and explore the trails, the ancient shrines and temples and then admire the views at the top. Once back down again, the beachfront is picturesque and nice to wander along admiring the island at low tide.

We only stayed one night, but I wish we stayed 2-3. I left feeling like I only scratched the surface. Beautiful and peaceful place to unwind, especially after visiting the Peace Park Museum in Hiroshima.

It is a magic island where I would spend at least a couple of full days by sleeping in an authentic hotel with futon beds. If you can, i recommend to do the hiking of the main mountain (not difficult at all)

If however, you also like your hotel to be multi generational, with a nice bar, good food and a welcoming atmosphere, this is definitely not the hotel for you.

The hotel was lovely and pristine. It had very traditional Japanese decor but very new and modern at the same time. The amenities in the room were incredible and high quality. The food was exceptional and the staff were amazing - particularly the lovely lady on reception (sorry I didn’t catch her name) who was so helpful and welcoming; she took the time to recommend activities and restaurants on the island and went above and beyond to make our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you.
We feel lucky we found an affordable hotel in Miyajima. We were right by the center so we could stop by any time. The hosts were very friendly and we felt welcomed. The room was very comfortable, with plenty of space. The bathroom was quite small but clean, so this was not a problem for us. They offered recommendations for nearby restaurants and provided a guide of the island which was very helpful.
Staying in this hotel was like going back in time. The host was very warm and welcoming. It was nice to chat with her and she even invited me for breakfast as I had to book a double room as a single traveller. Both dinner and breakfast were rich and very tasty. I highly recommend staying one night on Miyajima and enjoying the scenery late at night / early in the morning without masses of tourists.
The hotel was perfect. There is a shuttle available to transfer to and from the ferry. A stunning island with all the sites and shops in easy walking distance.
The food was the absolute highlight! The kaiseki dinner and breakfast was so delicious and such a fun way to experience Japanese culture.
Kano our waitress was so lovely and went above and beyond to look after us!
Absolutely gorgeous self contained villa. Comfortable bed, good shower, lovely outdoor bath. Well stocked self service bar. Simple check in at the ryokan down the hill - friendly service, a great dinner and a good breakfast. Just lovely. I would love to stay here for a week or more.
