Hallveigartröð 12 in Reykholt is a brand new elegant house in a historic location in the heart of Borgarfjörður. The house is 231.6 m2 Description: The living room and kitchen are adjacent. Entering from the spacious foyer is a hall where you can walk out onto a sun deck to the south. In the east wing there is a spacious laundry room with a washing machine and a dryer, from where you can walk out onto the sun deck facing east. In the east wing there is a suite with a walk-in closet and a bathroom. In the west wing from the living room there are three rooms and a bathroom. The house has beautiful big windows and all the rooms are bright and spacious. All the rooms have luxury beds, two of the rooms have double beds 160x200cm, one of the rooms has two 80 cm beds that can be put together or taken apart, and the east wing suite has a bed that is 180x200cm. Two bathrooms, one in the suite in the east wing and one in the west wing. The house is surrounded by sun deck that faces east and south. The outside entrance and driveway are paved, otherwise there is grass on the yard.

Your hosts Inga and Siggi are a married couple and have 3 grown children and 9 grandchildren. Inga is from Borgarfjörður and grew up in this area, while Siggi comes from a small fishing village in the Westfjords, Tálknafjörður. They met in Reykholt during their student years, so the place is very dear to them. Their first home together was in Reykholt and then they moved to Tálknafjörður in 1983. In 2007 they moved back to Borgarfjörður and have been there ever since. Siggi is a carpender and he built, among other things, our house in Hallveigartröð 12. Inga is a teacher and has worked in sports training, teaching, school administration, evaluation of school work, etc. Our common interests are the outdoors, exercise and travel and we both have a passion for hospitality. We both enjoy welcoming guests and working with people, which is one of the reasons why we plan to rent the house and look forward to welcoming guests who visit Reykholt and stay in our lovely home.

On the site and in its vicinity, you can enjoy unique nature and experience rivers, forests, mountains, lava and glaciers, as well as the energy of geothermal heat, which is used, among other things, for heating houses. The entire environment of Reykholt is very neat and has a lot of vegetation. There are beautiful hiking trails in Reykholt-forest and its surroundings. Snorrastofa is an interesting cultural and historical center where you can learn about the story of Snorri Sturluson, the great storyteller of our Icelanders (icelandic-sagas), along with many other things. Reykholts-church is the home of Snorrastofa and is a beautiful landmark of the place together with the old District School in Reykholt. Every year in July Reykholts festival (Reykholtshátíð) is held. Classical music in a historical setting is the title of the festival. The Reykholts church is famous for its good acoustics. Fosshótel operates in Reykholt and is within walking distance. There you can buy access to a spa ie. to hot tubs, sauna and steam bath. The hotel has a good restaurant where you can buy breakfast and dinner. Natural wonders near Hallveigartröð 12: Krauma Geothermal baths are only 6 km away from Reykholt, where you can relax in a unique environment next to Deildartunguhver, which is Europes’ most powerful hot spring. The hot water in Krauma comes directly from the spring, where 180 liters per second of 100 degree hot water gushes up from the center of the earth. There is also a restaurant in Krauma that serves Icelandic cuisine from the freshest local farm produced ingredient. There are many swimming pools in Borgarfjörður. The nearest swimming pool is 6 km from Reykholt in Kleppjárnsreykir. Borgarnes, which is the largest town in Borgarfjörður, is 45 km away from Reykholt.
