The apartment was a lovely, clean, quaint & quiet place that used to be a family run bar. The kitchen is still in the style of the bar and has all the modern facilities for making food and a relaxing area to watch TV. The bedroom and bathroom are...

This house is perfectly placed to easily see the area. As well as being on a main road and near the fantastic national park it is only 10 mins walk from the station and the train to Kilarney takes 15 mins. The decor is fun, colourful and quirky!...

A lovely quirky place. In a perfect location for exposing Dingle peninsula and the ring of Kerry. And our host, Marie, was very welcoming and helpful.

Great place, just in between the 2 peninsulas, it allowed us to visit both places and come back to a nice bed :)

Nous avons bien aimé cette jolie location, située dans un ancien bar, décorée de manière très originale. Très propre, et bien située pour rayonner dans le Kerry. Seul bémol, la situation dans un carrefour assez passant. Ce n'est pas du tout gênant...

Herlihy's Half Way House is 15 km from Killarney. This former pub has been reimagined as a cosy living space, yet retains all the memorabilia and ambience of a traditional Irish country pub. Herlihy’s Bar ceased trading as a licensed premises in 2017. Since then bar and ancillary areas have been re-commissioned as wheelchair friendly self-catering accommodation, suitable for two-four adults. The Bar Counter is now home to a bespoke fitted kitchen, featuring all “mod cons” and the Bar-Floor area has been transformed into living/dining space. This area contains up-cycled bar furniture to provide a quirky dining space. The cosy living area features a fireplace, sofa-bed, television, coffee tables, dresser etc. The entire “Pub” is decorated with bar memorabilia collected by three generations of female publicans (Marie, the current proprietor, her mother and grandmother) over a period of 105 years! In contrast with the Traditional Bar Ambiance, the remainder of the unit is ultramodern and encompasses, an entrance hallway, a double bedroom, bathroom and utilty room.
Marie your host is an archaeologist and tour guide, whose family have owned and lived in the property since 1912. Herlihy stands in the centre of Farranfore village, which is 15 km from Killarney. In 2017 Marie reimagined a portion of her family home into quirky, unique accommodation in this traditional Kerry village. It is an ideal base for exploring Kerry, as it is adjacent to the Wild Atlantic Way and 1.5 km from Kerry Airport. Herlihy’s is an ideal base for day trips to Killarney, the Ring of Kerry, the Dingle and Beara Peninsulas and beyond. The accommodation is spotlessly clean furnished to a very high standard, with a beautiful garden, free car park and free Wi-Fi throughout There is a supermarket directly across the road, a Kebab House (50m), Bar and Restaurant (300m) and Coffee Shop (400m) in the village. For those not having a access to a car there is a railway station and excellent bus service also in in the village. Marie continues to live in the building and is happy to engage with guests and offer advice on what to see and do in the Kerry. She has a family of four cats, who can be guaranteed to socialise with her guests should the opportunity arise.
The magnificent Irish coastline of West Kerry, the Wild Atlasntic Way and Dingle are accessible by car in 30 minutes. Farranfore is also the ideal point of departure for a trip around the Ring of Kerry. The Counties many golf courses (Killarney, Killorglin, Dooks, Barrow, Castleisland and Ballybunnion) are easily accessible from Farranfore. For those just wanting to get away from it all, there are some lovely rural roads to be explored in the vicinity of the village. Herlihy's Bar provides the ideal base for those wishing to experience the natural beauty of Killarney, with its spectacular mountain and lake scenery. The town itself is picturesque and offers an exhaustive selection of bars, hotels, restaurants and shopping experiences. Tralee the County Town is world renowned as home to the Rose of Tralee International Festival. It is also home to our national Folk Theatre, Siamsa Tíre. The town also boasts an aquadome and wetlands. Kerry's County Museum is to be found in Tralee town centre. Whilst on the outskirts of the town is Manor Shopping Centre. Castleisland a traditional Irish market town and Killorglin (home to Puck Fair) are both just down the road from Farrranfore.
