Cregg Castle is a magical place built in 1648 by the Kirwan Family, one of the 12 tribes of Galway. It is set on 180 acres of pasture and beautiful woodlands.
I have 2 great-sized family rooms available, the one at the front of the Castle., room 1 is named Sinead's Room, cause Sinead O Connor stayed in it a few times in the 80's. Room 2 is called Dusty; 's room cause Dusty Springfield loved it and also stayed a few times just before she passed.. It is at the back of the Castle.. Both are available for your short or long holiday.
There are 2 doubles and a single bed in each room. I can also add a mattress to the floor if needed.
The toilet, wash hand basin and shower are en-suite in both rooms.
A small Table with chairs is also in the room.
If the weather is cold it will warm up nicely with the space heater provided.
There is no Wifi or TV.
It's the perfect place to get away from it all,
Both of the family rooms sleep 5 each so there may be other guests staying in the next room. I also have 3 castle mates, Terry, Eamonn, and my 19-year-old son Zach.
Sometimes other activities are happening during the day in the main gallery rooms, so please be flexible with how quiet or busy it may be.
My very friendly Cats are happy to meet all the guests - Pixie is the Queen of the Castle, and Niro is in training, soon to be the King.
Btw, both cats are strictly Not allowed in the bedrooms.
The 3 large main rooms are used as an art gallery, sometimes birthday party events, yoga retreats, photoshoots, etc. These rooms can also be used by you, if free for your entertainment, reading, playing cards, or just for chilling out, away from your room.
The Kitchen is on the basement floor and can be used by the guests to make food to take out for the day or feel free to make a home-cooked meal for the family, morning or evening if you wish.
I took on Cregg Castle 12 years ago after it was unfortunately locked up for 4 years, in an effort to save it from ruin. So please understand this is a work in progress. The Castle is 376 years old so expect to see areas not in use and it all needs constant maintenance. So just that we're clear, it's not the Ritz. hence the keen price to stay in a real Irish Castle.
I have hundreds of positive reviews on my Airbnb account, scoring 4.7 out of 5.
So please do come to visit, cause each of you is contributing in a small way to the future of the Castle.I am very grateful, I just could not have done it without my 1000s of guests over the past 6 years, who have come from all over the world.
I first managed it as an artist's residence and also some music events, a few weddings, etc. Then started hosting guests, some cultural events, healing retreats, and photo/ film shoots.
My exhibition of original oil paintings hangs in the two large reception rooms.. I call it my “Gallery of Angels”. It’s a dream space to have my solo show.
I discovered my passion for Artistic activities early in life and haven’t looked back since. Art College taught me the fundamentals of art, but it’s the journey of life that provides me with my inspiration.
I feel my Paintings are very intuitive and personal. Inspired by beautiful friendships, people I love, and even Angels. I guess they reflect my Timeline of life and who inspired me along the way.
Staying In the moment, while painting, I have found ways to explore and develop a greater inner spiritual connection to myself and therefore also a deeper connection to my external world.
Painting is by far my favorite thing to do.
I Love that it helps me understand more about myself and explore all the meaningful connections in my life.
I host a Therapeutic painting workshop at the Castle. It is a one-to-one, full-day workshop.
A fusion of ART, NLP, and TLT.

The Castle is set on a very large estate ( 180 acres ) so plenty of nature to enjoy. Visit the beautiful natural spring Well, the portal tomb, and the ancient cairn in the woods, take a walk along the river bank and you must go to see the very old church ruins and graveyard in the middle of the biggest field, which we call the church park, all of which are on the estate.
The Castle is only 15 minutes from Galway City. It is easy to access all major routes to explore Galway, Clare, and Sligo.
If you have no car, it's best to arrive by taxi, it is approx. 30 -40 euros to the city, day or night,. There is no direct bus route, and the roads are not suitable for walking.
There are local shops and pubs only 2 minutes from the gate, including Peggys Bar/restaurant which does great food for breakfast lunch, and dinner. So for fun, you can walk to Peggys through the fields of the estate if you want pints, so you are safe and not be driving.
