The lodge is situated on the edge of the World Heritage Hortobagy National Park, overlooking a temporary wetland-grassland habitat that at times is teeming with masses of birds (e.g up to 20 000 geese in November). Main seasons for nature watching are the spring months from mid April till the and of June (breeding and northward migration). Autumn is also fine from the end of August till mid November (end of breeding and southward migration with masses of cranes in October and geese towards the end of the season . The grounds are 4 hectares/ 10 acres the bird list is over 200 species. Within the grounds there is an accommodation building with 8 spacious rooms, all on ground floor and overlooking the puszta with private terraces. Restaurant is about 50 meters in a separate building where we serve 3-course set dinners. We cater for all major dietary needs. please indicate at the time of booking if you wish to use this service and if you have any dietary needs. Parking is within the grounds. Bikes for rent. We can arrange professional guiding - please book in advance, most of the national park is restricted and can be visited only if accompanied by a licensed guide .

The lodge is on the edge of the small town of Balmazújváros, near Debrecen (25 Kms). It is a rural setting and offers a quiet, peaceful environment. We are well separated and insulated by a small woodland from the noises of the village. Time seems to have stopped here - in a good sense. In wet spring thousands if not millions of frogs provide the background music accompanied by nightingales. In autumn cranes and up to seven species of geese (incl Lesser Whitefronts and Red-breasted) are our next door neighbors. Apart from that some Grey cattle and donkeys graze away peacefully.
