Goldfinch Estate encompasses an imposing yellow house sporting three comfortable apartments for rent, surrounded by well-tended yard and garden with olive and citrus trees, decorative plants and a summerhouse with benches and a table to enjoy leisurely afternoons or relaxed mornings. It is situated in a quiet hamlet of Volme which lies on the main and only road to Premantura and amazing Kamenjak National Park with its stunning coastline and water activities. Cycling route 316 from Medulin to Kamenjak passes in front of Goldfinch apartments taking visitors to unforgettable cycling or hiking trails. Pula, the largest city in Istria and home of one of the best preserved ancient Roman arena, is only a short (5 kms) drive to the north. Resort town of Medulin is similarly 5 kms away to the east.
We are a married couple from Canada who live and host near Pula, Croatia. We were superhosts for over 5 years in Split, Dalmatia. In 2023. we moved to Istria and found our dream place in Volme. Margo is an avid cook and gardener, while Zoran spends his mornings running the many hiking trails of Kamenjak and, in spare time, reads and plays guitar. Our tiny dog Peppi always accompanies us on our outings and travels.
Volme is an extension of the village of Banjole, a newly developed community with mostly large houses and villas, most of which are geared toward tourism. The community is quiet and friendly with easy access to Banjole and its restaurants. Volme is situated on the narrowest point of Premantura peninsula and therefore exits to the seashore on both sides. To the south are the endless hiking paths, plains and forest, cliffs and beaches of Kamenjak National Park. Only a short drive away is the city of Pula, a cultural, historical and gastro centre of Istria. If you turn eastward on an equally short drive you will find yourself at the tourist-resort town of Medulin with its restaurants, bars, water activities and beaches. Despite being at easy reach to those busy centres, Volme remains an oasis of peace and quiet.
