This house was built in the 1600s in the heart of Ano Syros's historic castle settlement. Built on an ancient hill to protect inhabitants from pirate attacks, the house spreads on two and a half narrow floors, and a terrace with a panoramic view of the port, the historical Neorion, the Aegean Sea and the three neighbouring islands.
We believe guests should feel like they are in their own house, so we have a no-contact policy. If need be, someone can meet with guests and cater to emergencies. Stay in touch with us for anything you may need! Feel free to ask for suggestions, we are happy to share our favorite spots around the island. Our friend and neighbor is a local cook and teacher of Cycladic cuisine. She offers hands-on cooking classes, in which you can prepare and savour a delicious course meal based on local recipes and ingredients. You can find her business card in the house or ask us for her number. Enjoy Syros!
The neighbourhood is perhaps one of the most beautiful and iconic locations in Greece. One of the few hills of the island, it offers a panoramic view from any place one chooses to look. In-between the little houses with the miniature gardens, one can see slivers of the sea and surrounding islands. Like a precious ornament, on top of the hill, there is the medieval monastery of Cappucine monks, open to the ones who dare to climb up the stairs to the top of the hill. Home to the rebetika music tradition, Ano Syros is a journey to the past and at the same time a vibrant community of artists, travelers and locals alike. Five minutes by car to Ermoupolis, the main town, and for the ones who like to walk there are stone steps that lead to the centre in only twenty minutes.
