Zen House Bath is run by My Hotel Ryugu Ltd, a Japanese company that also manages 2 hotels in Shizuoka, Japan. With 70 years of providing Japanese hospitality to customers in Shizuoka, the company has chosen to open its first overseas branch in the historical city of Bath, United Kingdom. The addition of Zen House Bath is not only an extension of our quality services that have been upheld for centuries, but also a nutshell of our culture and philosophy, which we hope to share with anyone who seeks Japanese mindfulness and tranquility. My Hotel Ryugu takes its pride in its attentive services to foreign visitors, from providing comfortable accommodation to language assistance and recommendations on local experiences. Hence, Zen House Bath will be taking up the same role in the UK for Japanese tourists, and at the same time also welcoming non-Japanese guests for a relaxing getaway without the 12-hour flight to Japan! Since opening we have been favoured by many returning guests for our ‘Hominess’, and that is precisely what we hope for all our future guests to remember us by.

The interior of Zen House Bath is adorned with Japanese decorations, such as calligraphy, pictures and oriental patterned cloth. Guests will be warmly welcomed by a Japanese host and they can relax in their rooms overlooking our Zen garden. Guests will also start their day with a Japanese breakfast, freshly made each morning. Japanese tea ceremony and calligraphy experiences can be arranged upon requests (booking required). Our host is fluent in both Japanese and English, so guests will get local tips and assistance in their own languages.

Bath is a lovely, picturesque city, with plenty to see. A 10-minute drive, or a 15-minute bus ride from the stop just nearby will bring guests to the city centre where they can explore historical sites, such as Roman Bath and Bath Abbey; picnic at the Royal Crescent, or join a Jane Austen tour. It also has a great access to beautiful English countryside as well as the famous Stone Henge. Guests can comfortably spend as short as a weekend, or as long as a week in Bath!
