Bursting with character West Farm Cottage is a 16th century gem set in its own extensive grounds on the banks of the River Ouse. This beautiful cottage has been lovingly restored and retains lots of original features with beamed ceilings, brick floors and a massive fireplace that will warm any winter evening. Perfect for a relaxing break with family and friends yet 20 minutes drive from the historic city of Cambridge and walking distance from many great pubs and restaurants in Godmanchester.
We are in Godmanchester which is just 20 minutes from the famous University City and treasure trove that is Cambridge. Huntingdon nearby is the birthplace of our famous son Oliver Cromwell who was born at the time West Farm Cottage was being built. Godmanchester has lots of choices of eating places each within walking distance. Three pubs as well as an Indian and an Asian restaurant all serving excellent food. A cafe in the town makes the best eggs benedict in the land and there are also local shops including two convenience stores and a chemist. There are some fantastic walks, crossing over the Chinese Bridge takes you to Portholme Meadow on the banks of the River Ouse. Take a stroll to Brampton Mill or grab a boat for a river outing. Culture abounds, Cambridge is easily accessed by car or public transport. Huntingdon hosts the Oliver Cromwell museum and Buckden Towers, once the home of Catherine of Aragon, is a short drive away.
