Torloisk Estate is situated along the remote and stunning northwest coast of Mull, spanning over 20,000 acres from Ulva Ferry to Calgary and from Loch Tuath to just shy of Dervaig. The estate comprises four active farms with sheep and Highland cattle. The self-catering accommodations—Torloisk House, Normann's Ruh, and Shepherd's Light—have been welcoming guests since 2021, all boasting wonderful sea views and serving as ideal bases for exploring the Isle of Mull. Whether you're a wildlife enthusiast, passionate walker, or beach lover, this area of Mull offers something for everyone.
Natalie manages the bookings and marketing for the self-catering accommodations. Originally from Bristol and Somerset, she has been fortunate to travel, work, and live in various countries. She met her partner, originally from the Isle of Ulva, in the Canadian Rockies and now resides on Mull with their two young children.
Gemma and James are the caretakers for the estate. Originally from Norfolk/Suffolk, they traded flat fields for the wildlife, lochs, and mountains of Mull. They thoroughly enjoy caring for Torloisk and meeting guests from around the globe.

Torloisk House, originally built in 1760, is a magnificent and historically rich family home, in remote and beautiful north west Mull.
The enchanting country house, accommodating up to 14 guests, is an ideal setting for large gatherings of family and friends, whether for special occasions or simply enjoying shared moments. Steeped in history as the ancestral home of the Maclean Chieftains of Torloisk, the house radiates traditional charm, adorned with antique furnishings, paintings, family photographs, and books that offer a captivating glimpse into the unique heritage of Torloisk.
Beyond the long hallway adorned with antlers, there are 7 reception rooms including a drawing room, library, music room, garden room and dining room. They all offer wonderful views either across the sea, moorland or private gardens. Sit and dine whilst watching the breathtaking sunset across the sea and the Isle of Ulva.
The large drawing room is charming and comfortable with sofas surrounding an open fire and an impressive bay window with far-reaching views across the sea to the islands of Gometra, Ulva, and beyond to Iona. Perfect for a pre-dinner drink or cosy afternoons playing games by the open fireplace.
There are three double, two twin and two single bedrooms. They are all elegantly decorated with two of the double bedrooms having four poster beds. This adds a wonderful touch of elegance and opulence to your stay.

Just a 1-mile walk from Torloisk House is Traigh na Cille beach, featuring expansive black sands and stunning views of the Treshnish Isles. Calgary Bay, with its beautiful white sands, is a scenic twenty-minute drive to the north. The nearest village, Dervaig, offers a well-stocked shop, several restaurants, and pub.
