Boasting a garden and views of mountain, The Old Thatch - Hennock is a homestay set in a historic building in Newton Abbot, 13 km from Newton Abbot Racecourse. Set 25 km from Sandy Park Rugby Stadium, the property offers a terrace and free private parking. Outdoor furniture is available for guests to relax or dine outside. All units come with a flat-screen TV with streaming services, a kettle, a bath, bathrobes and a dressing room. Guests can have wine or champagne delivered to their room. The Old Thatch Cottage. One of the oldest houses in Hennock, part of Lower Town Farm and still thatched. It was a very large farm at one time and many years ago, part of Warmhill Farm. When the freehold of Warmhill came up for sale, Lower Town, which was included, consisted of a thatched dairy house with a yearling shed, manure house and poultry shed, a shippon, root house and three-stable stall. In the 1920's the thatched house was run as a Guest House. The bedroom doors upstairs are still numbered from 1 to 5. Ice cream was also sold from here and whenever it was ready, the farmer's wife would go outside and ring a hand-bell to let everyone know. Before the school was built, there were many more cottages and farm buildings on this site.
Having lived and worked in Asia for the past 16 years, Victoria has fine-tuned her approach to hospitality through her exquisite Italian Cuisine. Authentic Italian recipes, lovingly handed down from her family, The Old Thatch can offer stand out, bespoke menus to cater for everyone. Victoria hosts a very unique experience at The Old Thatch, offering the entire house up for her guests, with a warm and comforting open fire, the "Gin Bar", library with piano, stunning views, exceptional bathroom including a C16th roll top bath and fine dining. We have two beautiful border collies at our property that complete our family home.
The small village of Hennock is situated within the Dartmoor National Park, boasting stunning views and rolling hills. Hanoch (Hennock's original name) dates back as far as 1086, when it was first listed in the Doomsday Book. Many beauty spots to enjoy on your own or with your dog, especially on a cooler day, where you can warm up in front of the open fire with a nice glass of wine! Ashburton boasts around 6 antique shops , all within walking distance of the central car park. Or simply walk around the beautiful reservoirs approximately 2 miles drive from Hennock Village. The Seaside is approximately 20 minute drive, with various beaches to choose from.
