The Old Posthouse B&B is in the former village post office. The building dates back to Victorian times when it was the village store; and has been refurbished to a high standard, while retaining it's character. It has: plenty of off-road parking within an enclosed garden and behind gates which are shut at night; 3 comfortable and clean bedrooms (individually decorated) accommodating up to 6 people in total (2 with ensuites and 1 with its own large private and exclusive bathroom); free WiFi which has recently been upgraded; TVs; luxury Hypnos mattresses for guests' comfort; comfy seats and sofas downstairs in the Dining Room and the Snug and an outside seating area in the garden where guests can relax. The Dining Room and Snug are also where breakfasts and evening meals are served. Each room has either a Kingsize bed (2 of the bedrooms) or a Double bed (1 bedroom). We offer a large range of teas and coffees, and provide homemade cake on arrival; and outside the rooms there is a communal fridge with fresh milk and filtered water for guests. Guests have their own entrance to the property. The Old Posthouse has a VisitEngland 4 star rating, a Gold Award and a Breakfast Award - the breakfast options include homemade granola, Maud Foster porridge with homemade compote and Lincolnshire honey, an extensive range of teas and coffees, The Old Posthouse Full English breakfast, French toast with homemade compote, and Alfred Enderby smoked salmon or smoked haddock - and it offers a great place to stay as a base for exploring large parts of Lincolnshire, or if visiting the area on business or seeing family or friends. We were chosen as one of 3 finalists for the Tourism Excellence Awards in 2019 and 2020 for Lincolnshire for Best Bed and Breakfast; SME News named us Most Charming Bed and Breakfast 2023 - Lincolnshire, and Traditional Country Guest House of the Year 2024 - Lincolnshire. We want our guests to enjoy their stay. We do what we can to ensure your stay is relaxing and comfortable - a home from home - whether on holiday, wanting to explore the area or visiting for a specific purpose such as business, visiting friends or family. To try to ensure our guests get a good night's sleep, we use luxury Hypnos mattresses for each of the beds, and use quality cotton bed linen. Many of the reviews of The Old Posthouse comment on how good the breakfast is and wide the choice - we take great pride in our Award winning breakfasts, offering a wide choice of quality Lincolnshire produce. We think breakfast should set you up for the day. We also offer evening meals by separate arrangement. We have a range of literature for guests to use to discover things to do in the area - walks in the Lincolnshire Wolds; visiting RAF heritage sites; looking for antiques at Hemswell Cliff; or looking at the various places of interest in Lincoln and elsewhere. 1 review summarises what we hope our guests will think of us and our Bed and Breakfast, from a couple who were exploring the area: "One of the best holiday stays we have had in 31 years of holidaying. The Old Posthouse is located north of Lincoln in the small village of Normanby by Spital. The village has a long history and is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, described as Normanebi. The Spital refers to the ancient hospital that used to be in the now called Spital-in-the-Street on the old Roman road, Ermine Street (now the A15). The village pub, The Bottle & Glass, is roughly a 2 minute walk from the front door; as is the village shop/post office. And if that pub is closed there is The Crown in Glentham, which is a 5 minute drive away or a 25 minute walk along a footpath through fields. The village is surrounded by farmland and provides a quiet, relaxing place to stay, whether as a base for exploring or visiting the area or for work. There are various walks, cycle rides and runs to go on from The Old Posthouse if in need of some exercise - guests can bring their bikes and go for a cycle ride, or bring their running things for an early morning or evening run along country lanes. The village is a 5 minute drive from both the A15 and A631, with easy access to a variety of local attractions including the city of Lincoln with it's ancient castle and cathedral and other attractions, Market Rasen Racecourse, the antiques centres at Hemswell Cliff, The Lincolnshire Showground, The Lincolnshire Wolds and Gainsborough Old Hall. Guests find we are a great base for seeing what Lincolnshire has to offer, including trips to the Lincolnshire coast, exploring market towns, and visiting the various RAF heritage sights.
