Retaining many original features of a tannery, we have created a comfortable "home from home" space on the edge of the saddleworth moors with easy access to the peak district with fantastic hiking, mountain biking and wild swimming opportunities. There is equally easy access to the City of Manchester, perhaps for work, or to enjoy the rich cultural heritage and entertainment. The Lodge is a completely separate part of our home, with a shared (with the owner) outdoor space, including a garden, BBQ, fire pit, pizza oven and outdoor furniture. Over 2 floors, our guests have a dining and kitchen area, a shower, and a studio type lounge/bedroom. There is ample storage for clothes in a fitted wardrobe, and a second toilet near the bedroom area. We have amazing views from our garden, time can be well spent spotting Kinder Scout down the valley, or saddleworth moors across the valley. We can accommodate 2 adults and up to 2 children (sleeping on a sofa bed) and we also have a cot as and when required. We are very dog friendly, and love meeting your companions!
We are a happy, friendly family, with 2 dogs. We love where we live, and spend many hours up on the moors, hiking or finding spots to swim, paddleboard or kayak. We love meeting new people, sharing the history of our home, or the wide range of things to do where we live.
Across the Valley you can see the moors, the popular Dovestone to your left, right down to Kinder Scout on a good day. Hiking and mountain biking opportunities are fantastic. There's lots of local culture, the Whit Walks and the Whit Friday Band competitions, Yanks weekend and so many more. Some great local pubs, delis and restaurants, and vibrant night life in Uppermill and Stalybridge. We have easy access to Manchester City centre with the culture, sport, shopping and entertainment freely available there.
