Saltpot Cottage is a unique and luxury home, nestled in a quiet corner of the Village Cowling at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. The log burner will greet you with that toasty welcome after a long walk out in the countryside on a brisk Autumn or Winters day. Or be it Spring or Summer, the outside of the cottage is a sun trap where you can sit on the patio opposite the cottage and relax, have a lovely lunch enjoying the views over the field and the pinnacle. The cottage has a king size bed in bedroom 1 with a shower en suite and bedroom two has two single beds with the house bathroom, featuring free-standing Victorian style bath opposite. An open plan kitchen and living area are downstairs with underfloor heating to enjoy. The log burner is a great feature in a separate snug upstairs with TV and sofa to relax and enjoy a cosy evening. Our guests can also enjoy the patio opposite the cottage and use the outside furniture in good weather, taking in the view of the pinnacle. The cottage has low beams & ceilings, which adds to the character of the house. We urge our guests to be mindful of this and have placed a few signs here and there as a reminder. A village micro pub & wine bar - The Hop & Vine with a traditional village pub (Bay Horse) are just a few minutes walk away, offering local ales, wines & cocktails. Further afield into crosshills there are a few great restaurants- 22 the Square, an Italian and The Old Bank (a tapas restaurant). Centrally located for Skipton, Haworth, the Lake District, The Dales, Ribble Valley, Leeds, York, Manchester and much more are only a short car or train journey away. There are a plethora of beautiful places to visit - Malham Cove is a must along with Bolton Abbey and the village of Haworth. Skipton, our local market town is 5 miles away and has an array of cafes and restaurants.

We are Steven and Chantal, who own and manage Saltpot Cottage. We love hosting and have been doing this now for a number of years. Our passion for hosting stems from enjoying travelling ourselves and staying in some unique places, which was the main driver behind the concept of Saltpot Cottage. We felt we needed to give back some of our experiences and share them with guests who stay at our cottage, hoping to give them all an enjoyable and memorable stay. Steven is Yorkshire born and has lived in the area many years. Chantal is originally from Lancashire and moved to Yorkshire many years ago when they both got together. Chantal has a love for hiking, both locally in Cowling and further afield- the three peaks of Yorkshire, the Lake District and the national three peaks included.

In Cowling there are a plethora of nearby things to do and see. The Pennine Way runs through the middle of Cowling from Top Withens (Withering Heights and Bronte Country) to the splendour of Malham and Malham Cove over in the Dales. The famous landmark of Cowling is also visible from Saltpot Cottage- the pinnacle is reachable on foot in around 30 minutes. Plenty of walks galore in and around Cowling! Further afield, the beautiful market town of Skipton is only 6 miles away with many a restaurant, bar, coffee shop and tea rooms. Skipton even has its own castle with a stunning walk from there around Skipton Woods. Bolton Abbey, owned by the Duke of Devonshire is also a must visit, only a couple of miles outside of Skipton. Further into the Dales are the famous three peaks- Pen Y Ghent, Whernside and Inglborough. With stunning scenery, set yourself a challenge and walk all three in under 12 hours or more leisurely one at a time. The Lake district is easily reachable at only around 60 miles. If a more city vibe is your style, Leeds is great for visit- the train to Leeds from Steeton/Silsden takes around 25 minutes and your there.
